The world has gone GT3RS MAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Discussion
The car is STILL reasonably rare (rarer than 964 type I believe) and any 911 with the RS letters on the back will ALWAYS be held in high regard.
The fact that 997RS has not moved the OUTRIGHT performance game on that much (but is a better road car) has probably helped the 996RS.
Barry - forget what the dealers are offering for the car. If there are people out there who want one (we know there are loads), supply is restricted, then sellers can ask whatever they want. It's as simple as that. I must say that recent indications of demand have told me one thing for sure - I'm NOT selling mine.

anyone know what the LHD & RHD build numbers are?
Only 500 were made worldwide with about 100 comming to the uk via OPC's and about 20 more imports. A few have been written off. The rarest production RS by far.

Slightly spurious on the rarest Rs quote Steve,,surely SC/RS is more rare and consider caged (like the GT3RS) Clubsport variants of the 964 & 993RS, both rarer......if you think the 964 & 993 CS should be included with regular RS numbers then the 996 Gt3RS should be included in total Gt3 numbers, quite a few built in total?
We all know the 996Gt3Rs are superb cars, do they really need all this spin?
Must admit the 997GT3 has given me a hankering for something even more extreme. Seriously considering getting my money out of the 997 - I should get list back - and buying the cheaper, but even more focused 996GT3RS - while there're still some good ones left - and spending some of the saving on tasty tweaks. Can I respectfully request therefore that you all stop talking the damned values up!!

Seriously though, I'm not casting spin. I think i'm right in saying that in outright numbers produced, the 996 GTRS is a rare car in comparison with other RS's manufactured.

I know a few owners (4 at last count) that are not on any of the web forums and that have NEVER gone near a track that have written their 996RS's off.
Then there are the well-known write-offs and trackday smashes. Then there are the track-only cars which have been converted and will never be road-cars. Then there are a handful of cars which have gone back to HK,AUS,SA (don't know why as some imports came from there). Then there are minging cars which no-one would touch anyway (slight prangs/overreved).
Leaves VERY few nice cars + realisation it is a performance bargain + last of ultra-aggressive non-road friendly RSs (no doubt 993/964 etc owners will have a lot to say about this) = strong long term residuals.

Clubsport - You never slam the 996RS but you do make a deliberate effort to "moderate" any enthusiasm over it
After the ENDLESS stream of poetic rhetoric spouted over the 993RS you can only expect the same of the 996RS. If porsche build the same number of 997RSs, 5 years from now you can expect the same for the current car.

Certainly rare, but I have quoted 3 rarer RS variants above,,,,just remarking on your quote of the 996Gt3Rs being the rarest producyion Rs so far.
Funny thing rarity, it doesn't appear to have helped the 996 Gt2 version so far, good to see they also seem to be finding a loyal following and I would expect good examples to be a reasonable "investment" going forward
