Interesting:

I wonder if the body flexes when the torque spikes just after 4k rpm...

There is one of these in the UK too I think.

It was featured in one of the Porsche mags last year, silver 993 targa with a turbo engine. Owned by some guy in the North, Manchester possibly. I think they were quoting 500+ bhp for it.

Yeah, not keen myself because they've used the 964 turbo rear wing - doesn't quite *fit* with the 993's curves in my opinion.

I thought targas were as stiff as the coupe anyway, just a bit heavier.

They're based on the Cab chassis so they don't have the torsional rigidity of the Coupe.

How much difference in feel would be perceptible to your average driver under real-world road-driving conditions, I don't know.....

That flies in the face of all the reading I did before buying a 993 Targa....

For instance: www.performance2and4.co.uk/993_2_n.htm

this has been mentioned before but I'm not so sure as you can see the junction on the rear 3/4 wing which is the same as the cab version

993 targa is based on the 993 cab chassis - in fact the original press leak suggested that it could be an optional glass hard top for cab buyers who wanted something for the winter...

No; all targas and cabs (with the exception of the 11 or 12 very rare factory 993 turbo cabs) are narrow body.

I'd hazard a guess it's the latter - the description mentions it was modified to be this way from a '98 Targa.

As I understood it, the strengthened cab chassis and fixed roof pillars give it the same torsional rigidity as the coupe.
