In light of the other thread on people selling their P&J as kids arrive I can report that selling the boxster is not currently on the agenda despite junior arriving in early April.

I've just come back from the OPC where I've had the airbag deactivation for the passenger seat of my 986 fitted - only to learn that deactivation works through a metal guide as otherwise used to attach the seatbelt to the lock. Porsche cunningly use a non-standard guide shape. Porsche child seats come with said guide attached but if I want to use a standard seat (i.e. one that will fit onto our buggy and into the wife's car) I'm missing a guide - and the OPC so far has refused to sell me one without the seat (since they can't order it independently).

Have any of you kind folks used a non-Porsche child seat on the passenger seat and found an alternate source for the missing guide?
Cheers

Axel

You get a buckle from another German car and cut a slot in it. 944 works, VW, and I forget what else.

You can (once you have had the airbag deactivation bar fitted) just push a metal object in to the seat belt buckle. This will turn off the airbags by flashing the light on the dash. I did it a few times in my Boxster before I bought a Porsche child seat off eBay.

Thanks for the replies - hadn't had a chance yet to read up in the manual if there is a light in the dash that will confirm on/off status.

Had tried calling Stuttgart in the meantime but they were just as unresponsive as the local OPC.
