Moving to Zug in August and thinking of selling my GT3 and buying a second hand LHD one in Switzerland.
Any recommendations on places to buy, and maintain the car, or just walk into an OPC?
You are?! Wow, that'll be different. Good luck mate! Any recommendations on places to buy, and maintain the car, or just walk into an OPC?
(sorry, can't answer your question though!)
Andrew
I have lived in Zug for seven years and originally from UK. Which company are you working for ?
The best place to search is
www.autopool.ch
Click on "suchen" (search) on the left hand menu bar. This will enable you to do a more extensive search. I think the rest of the criteria is self-explanatory. At the bottom enter the PLZ (postcode) as 6300 which is Zug and then select the distance from this code. There are quite a few within 50 kms.
When the list appears, some will have a blue symbol with "AMAG". This is the Porsche dealership in Switzerland.
Happy hunting.

Marcus

Welcome to Switzerland.
Zug's a pretty albeit a bit boring place. Speed limits in Switzerland are set so low that even the most brain dead person can write texts on their mobile whilst driving. Nonetheless you will see a larger share of drivers keeping a large safty margin so as not to break the law... Enforcement is extremely strict with hefty fines. Ensure your new toy has cruise control to limit damage. No track days either within the country either
The office Porsche dealer (AMAG as stated in an earlier post) has outfits in every larger city. The one close to Zug (in a town called Cham) did not impress me too much. They are not interested in buyers and the mechanics try bull sh*t you into expensive repairs. I once passed whilst having an issue with the boot lid. These guys wanted more than 1000 Swissies to fix it. The people from AMAG Riesbach in Zurich found another solution and did it for free...

From AMAG I only bought the 986S many years ago. But that was from a Zurich branch (Riesbach) and not the one in Cham.
In P/E they will always offer much worse deals when going for a used than a for new car. Better off selling the old car privatly via autoscout24, I think. I sold my old car to a guy exporting them to the Nordics where taxes are high and well maintained older models are very attractive. In any case, I'd stay clear of the guys in Cham. Didn't like them.
