Now have room for a weekend toy and very tempted:

www.pistonheads.com/sales/102609.htm

I would get a comprehensive inspection before buying but anyone know anything about this car? Also, no expert on 964 pricing so any thoughts on the price?

Cheers - Erik

SEEMS VERY VERY EXPENSIVE FOR A LHD 964......

Having spent the past 4 months rooting around for a 964 I would agree with previous comments re price - a little steep. This money could get you a 90/91 C2/4 with solid documentation and all the necessary work with some change left over. Admittedly, it would be higher miles but I think you get more out of the RHD than the LHD. And let's admit it, these cars demand to be driven and we can't always get ourselves on to a track can we! There are a few c.90k 964's on the Auto Trader at present but nothing too exciting.

Cheers guys.

Don't ask me why but actually quite fancy a LHD car. Something to do with how they were originally built and the fact that I grew up outside of the UK driving LHD cars.

The car itself is tempting but I do agree that the price seems quite high. Assuming that an inspection didn't bring up anything major what kind of price would you guys be looking to pay for it?

Something about that black with black wheels combo that keeps me going back for another look....

Just to put a different view over...........

It looks very very tidy, and also very nice, the overall look of the car is lovely, it is very low mileage, but I really don't see the obsession with mileage anyway, except for the fact that the cars haven't aquired that lived in look.

It is LHD but I don't agree for a second you would get more out of a RHD, if nothing else the increased leg room is a bonus, plus it has the 993 style dash with the twin airbags, although that system has probably been disconnected due to the steering wheel.

I don't like the grey interior, but that is just my taste, I must say it is like new though!

It also has the later plastic inlet engine fitted, and air con.

It is expensive though I do agree, although it only looks expensive due to the hammering the 964 has taken on price lately, chances are it will come back up, there is no way the 3.0/3.2/964 can occupy the same price band forever, it's probably more likely the 964/993 will clump together eventually given the model similarities.

One big concern I would have is the modifications, while tastefully done, clear lights, big wheels and sports steering wheels always smack of boy racer, I'd really want to know that the car has been looked after as well as its been tarted up, if so, and if the steering rack brace was installed to allow the 18" wheels to be fitted then yes I like all the mods.

But overall on face value it looks an amazingly nice car, just look a the engine bay, I wish mine was half as clean as that! I would sooner own a LHD in that condition than a RHD in poorer condition although finding an identical RHD car would not be easy I feel, so yes it may be expensive and it may be LHD but that car will sell on mileage and condition, I suspect the owner is of the same mind as a lot of 964 owners myself included, which is that if someone wants to buy the car at a fair price then they will sell but won't entertain selling the car at the current low market value, and I really don't think that car is an unfair price.

Looks great, LHD though, whether you have a problem with this or not still de values the car.(CIRCA 25%) I personally don't have an issue with LHD having run a 965 for 2 years which was LHD, however sold for £22.5k with 49k under its belt if it had been a RHD would have got 27k IMHO.
Think the car advertised is worth 10-12k, with addistional 25% premium if RHD. Does look nice though.

Having sold my 964 early last year with interior upgrade to above RS spec, I'd like to think with the low mileage he's not a million miles off the price as my car had just under 100k on it but was immaculately kept prior to me owning it and meant the inside and out was in super condition, and it was only due to my taste and time to do it all myself that I did it. I bought the car for 16.5k with 3 owners and 90k on the clock in black/grey and full OPC history from new but spent a few quid on it.

Went browsing and was gobsmacked to see it forsale. This is my actual car and the website is not mine it's the new owners but it's how I sold mine with a site that had most of the same detail, infact it was ripped from mine, which I'll take as a compliment.

www.pistonheads.com/sales/123542.htm or www.911sales.co.uk/page_1164060039992.html

I am no longer the keeper of this vehicle so please do not contact me about it's sale.

The LHD car looks stunning and has very nice mileage, which according to Henry is what dictates the price, so mayeb miloes is more important than the driving side. The car would probably more suit a price tag of around 13-14k I'd have thought, but if you plan to use it at foreign tracks then that LHD might be worth the extra but I'd say 17k is RHD territory to be fair. Great looking 911 though, credit to it's owner.

My interior before looked like that.

Also see this link if ya want a nice 964:

www.pbase.com/greymist/new_964

Targa isn't everybody's cup of tea but it's certainly in great condition.

Low mileage, okay, but itll be 77 before you know it.
IIRC there was one on there for about 12k much more like it.
And what does ....

Multiple Porsche References with intimate knowledge of the car (Jaz/Zentrum) available upon request ....

mean ? That they know it ?

There a lot better car out there rhd for that money.

No. the number on the speedo dictates the most you can ask for a car the car it`s self the value up to that point.

Left hand drive cars are a whole different ball game. In general a left hand drive car needs to be cheaper than the cheapest possible right hand drive car to sell.

It is very hard to prove provenance on, say the mileage, of a 15 year old car which has been imported form overseas. For that reason I think it`s hard to ask a premium for it.

In general left hand drive cars sell because they are cheaper than right hand drive ones.

Cheers for all the comments guys.

As mentioned I think I would prefer a LHD car. I think based on the comments I'll keep looking for a nice example.

There's nothing to stop you selling this in germany when you're done. If it's a really good example, it'll fetch better money here than it will in the UK. I thought Henry-f's comments were really depressing, to be honest. They inferred that the best LHD is worth less than the worst RHD, and I really don't find driving a LHD car in a RHD country that much of a pain. The price might be a bit optimistic given that it's in the UK, but I wouldn't value a nice LHD car in the brutal terms henry-f suggests.

I think that car will sell to a foreign buyer, remember over there they don't have the same value problem with LHD lol!

And the other car shown just above I'm sorry it looks tired, the interior and engine bay while being in exactly the same state as mine look lived in, take another look at the car the question was asked about and you can see it looks almost like new, to try to buy a LHD or RHD car at 10K and get it up to the high standard that car appears to be in would take thousands, and chances are it still wouldn't be low mileage.
