I've heard more bad things about the 997 Turbo than good.
Gt3 on the other hand...

that guy on the rennteam thread was moaning about straight line speed and mid speed acceleration. I think he would be even more dissapointed with the GT3 since it has a) less torque and b) less BHP.
Sounds like he has a problem car since I doubt Porsche would release their flagship model that is out performed by any other model they produce (except for more powerful derivations of the turbo such as TT X50 or GT2).
Get out and drive one. Frankly I'm fed up of reading how crap it is!
I drive the previous generation turbo, the 996TT X50 with 450bhp, and from time to time drive it on roads like an absolute
. It is quite simply magnificent and I can't believe the 997TT with 480bhp will not be even better.

wish i could afford one, i'd av a brown one. Okay maybe not.
No look great in GP White albeit i'm a bit biased
I have had mine for 3 months now and it is just about to be properly run in. It is a fantastic car in every respect. Everyday usability, incredibly fast, very nice interior with very good seats (adaptive sportseats) and a cornering ability which is out of this world - and it does all this without any drama what-so-ever. I have had it on the track (Goodwood) and if you push this car it is seriously fast and you can have a lot of fun with it if you stay committed. A recent article in evo (Nov issue) hits this on the nail. I have had zero problems with the car. The thing about the (apparent) lack of mid-range accelleration is a lot of b...shit. On the German Autobahn it left an AMG 65 SL for dead recently. Go out and drive one and you will see. The only problem is, that on this island all the fun starts way beyond the national speed limit unless you take it to the track or you find some twisties in the countryside.
Lot of people who have traded up from x50 996's have already sold there 997 tt's.
Some have gone GT3, others are awaiting the GT2?
I'd wait for the 'S' and GT2, then you can really have the full choice.
Nothing worse then buying the car, getting disappointed, selling after a few months and loosing a heap of money.
I've had allot of experiance with doing this and it hurts the bank balance after a while!!

any more info regarding white 997 turbo at opc
After a bit of searching on PH I couldn't find the thread.
Googling came up with this interesting thread on another forum. Pictures of a white 997 GT3 next to a white 997 TT:

Got to admit, I'm not prepared to pay the cost of changing up for another 30bhp and a newer car. Be interesting to see what they do with an X50 version, although I'll probably wait for the X50 version of the turbo after the 997.
