987 roof/door seal leaking?
Discussion
Noticed the velvety seal on the drivers side roof seems to be letting in/absorbing water during heavy rain which then drips into the cabin.
Car's only a few months old so it'll be sorted under warranty when I call them, but has anyone experienced this and if so was it a quick fix?
Also is there anything I can check myself other than the obvious thing which is that the window looks to be closing fully, and closing under the exterior plastic "lip".

Hi,
New to the forum, but I likewise am having similar problems on my 2006 987. Water is leaking in around drivers side mirror. It lets in more water when stationary than when driving.
Has been back to OPC once for a new seal but this has made no difference, it is due back to them again tomorrow - I'll let you know what they say.

Hi,
Been back to OPC but they can apparently find no fault, despite me pointing out where the water actually was this morning in the car!! They need it for further tests - booked in for two days and I have to pay for the insurance on the courtesy car. Is this normal practice? I'm new to porsche and so far I'm not impressed with after sales service.

If its warranty you shouln't have to pay for the courtesy car insurance. Newcastle OPC dont charge for the cayennes..

Hi, You don`t have to pay for the insurance on the courtesy car, you can call your insurance company and provide a cover note, and there will be no charge. I know it`s a pain in the a$$, but the OPC`s have such a stupidly high Insurance excess they have to cover they`re own backs. The only reason they charge is for the admin fee (even though it is over a 300% mark-up on wat it actually costs them
). If they are insisting you must pay, don`t, kick up until they let you cover it yourself. Hi,
As posted elsewhere Boxster has been back to OPC, had roof relaced and guess what still leaks, but again just around drivers window - bone dry on passenger side! Booked in again for 26th. It will soon have spent more time with the OPC than on the road!
As for courtesy car - my own isurance do cover it, thank fully.

I'd be interested to know what they do to fix it. I still haven't bothered taking mine in simply as I don't want to lose a day off at the moment for something that isn't causing me any major hassle, though of course I want it fixed at some point. I know you have your own thread, but if you could reply to this one with any updates it'd be great just cuz it'll email me incase I miss the other thread.
I have a 986 [which shares its doors with the 996] and there are several adjusters for the window. I don’t know if its similar for the 987 but could be. Anyway there are 2 adjusters which are accessed from the very bottom of the door - under rubber grommets. These adjust the angle of the window to the door - so can make the top of the window press harder against the roof or softer.
Beyond this you need to think about the hinges + the door catch and the adjustment of the window front to back.
