anyone had any experience of toyo proxes?

It appears that pilot sports seem to be the be all and end all.....

Toyo are typically very good tyres at very good prices.

I haven't had any on anything but the daily, and i dont know if they do 'N' rated tyres, but worth a thought.

I have been running TOYO Proxes R888's on my GT3 for the last 12 months and they are fantastic for track use, they are not keen on standing water though. I have also run on Michelins, but the Sport Cup variety. They too grip like hell on track but once again do not like standing water and are at least 50% more expensive than the TOYO's. Don't be put off the TOYO's by some people saying that they are a "cheap" tyre. Try them for yourself and see, they are amazing....

Ditto everything Paul B says. I have them on my GT3 for the track, but use MPS for the road.

As have several others with good results. If I needed track tyres now I'd buy a set of these w/o hesitation.

The prices are about to go up mind, so get in quick - Try Steve @ Simply Tyres 0871 900 224

Hi

I run Proxes T1-R on the corvette and also on the Mini Works - but I run Bridgestone S03 on the 930.
I do think the Bridgestones are a better tyre but the Toyos aren't that different and a fair amount cheaper

I have them on my 944 cabby and after quite a long settling in period they are now excellent.
At first I thought there was something wrong with the suspension but these tyres need time to settle but they are excellent especially in the wet.

I'm running KUMHO tyres on the back of the 911 (the difficult end) and I'm very very impressed, in fact I prefer them to the N rated Bridgestones I had on before. But come spring I'll be getting conti's, however as a winter tyre I love these!

Currently using conti's and although they've still got plenty of tread they're not loving the wet weather and greasy roads...although have to admit its quite fun when they let go comming off any of the 10,000 roundabouts in milton keynes....however the peron in the other lane never seems to appreciate having the rear end of my car in their lane!!

So is the consensus that toyos are great track tyres but not so great for day to day flying round roundabouts?

I use T1-S on a 2.5 E30 and T1-R on the 930.
They take a while to bed in/dewax: be careful of that in this climate.

Once bedded in are very grippy, no tramlining, no probs. Decent tread depth too, look good when you park with a full lock on so you can see the groovy (directional) tread

The T1-Rs are supposed to be better than the T1-S (next gen. see,) the T1-R has got a rim-saver feature, they appear to be the same for grip.

Hi All

The Toyo R888 are a great track tyre but do require higher pressures running hot than what people are used too.
If anybody is thinking of trying them out,I would strongly suggest to get theem quickly before the price increase from feb 1st.

Also any technical questions can be answered by ringing Technical director at toyo ( nice chap to speak too).
However popular the tyre is please remember that it's not the be and end all tyre.

P.M me if any questions
steve
