Hey everyone!

Well had my porsche for almost a year of enjoyable driving (with a few problems but nothing that couldnt be fixed by the OPC taking my hard-earned-cash! b@stards!!! lol)

Anyway - now that rant's over and done with, back to the point. I have never had any real problems with the alarm, and the key button thing always worked well... I had a bit of a bike racing crash a couple of months ago so havent been driving for a couple of months and the battery has completely died. After searching around and finding out that I had to take half the car apart to pull the release cable, I charged the battery and got it running again fine!

Unfortuately I left my keys up at parents over Christmas so have since been using my spare... but the blipper-thing doesnt work on the spare (yes I have changed the battery) so I have to unlock the car manually like a gimp. As soon as the car unlocks the alarm goes off, until I get the key to the ignition pt1. Unlike some of the posts there is absolutely no time delay so its annoying both me and my neighbours each morning.

The other thing I have noticed, when I try to lock the car normally (turning the key) thats ok... if I do it two or three times it bleeps the horn to suggest that something has been left open.

Any ideas guys? is this normal, or likely to be a fault with my key, the central locking, something to do with the battery running completely flat... or just the fact it's a new year so the car thought it would surprise me with a new fault? lmao

Hello

just check underneath the passanger seat and see if there is any moisture/water.

You will need those other keys back unfortunatly as it needs to see the unlock signal from a transmitter as far as i am aware....are the bonnet release handles/buttons still locked or have they released now its running ?

Thanks

mike

The car normally goes into sleep mode if left locked for a few days, the standard proceedure to wake it up is unlock the door without opening (this wakes the alarm up) then unarm alarm with keyfob, then open door. As you haven't got the keyfob you can only do as you are doing & get the key in the ignition asap, until you regain the fob!

As to why it is going off immediately without opening the door & beeping when set, I would suggest checking your glove box & rear centre consul cubby box are fully closed & latched, these are both linked to the alarm (on most models!)& the cubby box is the usual culprit! If not I would check boot bonnet catch, then the internal lghts to be sure one (in the boot perhaps) hasn't been switched on all the time.

if you have completed those checks & it is still beeping on set, then I'm afraid it is a trip to the dealers, let us know how you get on.

It's working exactly as it should. IIRC double locking it engages the deadlocks and the plip is to tell you it's set.

Unlocking on the key alone doesn't disable the alarm (possibility of entry by forcing the door locks) so you have to disable it by putting the key in the ignition.

You'll need to get your plipper working or go and grab your other key to stop it going off I'm afraid.

Hear what you are saying but Sedgoose said the horn sounded, when the horn sounds on set it is to draw your attention to a fault in the alarm procedure.

If you turn the key once, yes. If you lock it twice within two seconds then I'm fairly sure it enables the deadlocks too.

If not the deadlocks then it certainly enables another feature and tells you audibly.

Hi BlairOut not being picky honest,so apologies for coming back at you, simply trying to ensure goosey guy gets the right info.

In all circumstances the horn sounding on set is showing an error somewhere, other noises may be different!
It was usually the rear cubby box not properly shut that caused the problem for me!

Not taken that way at all.... Just trying to answer all the questions in the OP. Rather sadly I always read car manuals like a kid with a new toy and happen to recognise the double locking plip as opposed to the (always!) cubby hole open plip

With all your plips & my beeps we need a mp3 soundbite section to differentiate, perhaps Ted can pop one along side the smiles legend! We could also have one that said "Vee vonder vhy the F***ing alarm iz goingz off" in a broad German accent!rotate

Thanks guys - oh yeah, I mentioned the horn because had a problem with the siren thing a while ago so killed it - figured with the tracker and everything else which is so overly sensitive and the position it's kept next to my house it can go without until I get another wod of cash to throw pointlessly at it

Cheers for the comments though - looks like everything is working properly its just meant to annoy you (to make sure that not a forced entry) as like you said, when I put it in the ignition it picks up on the chip and disarms it.

Waiting for original keys to turn up in the post and then it will be a trip to the dealer to get the spare reset with the same code.

Cheers guys!
