Hi fellas, just bought my first 911- a 2000 996 Tip. Very pleased with it and loving the driving experience. Have been reading the posts and it seems that there's a lot of useful info in the posts out there. It's strange being new to a forum having spent years on my old VX220 forum and knowing most of the characters there.
Anyway, just thought I would post to say hello!!

Yes I did wonder how many posts it would take before someone had a go at tiptronics...
Hunt the Fix - nice to see you online...
Ignore the abuse from, and sometimes genuinely nasty behaviour of some of the locals and you'll like it here!
Almost as much as you like your new 996!!
What colour you go for?

Ahhh .. You're missing a few wee letters from you're name thar Gar .. Did you buy it back at a massive loss? .. I'm only asking cos Kevin wants to know..
Cheers for the welcome fellas, expected a bit of rip about the tip (poetry!!) but loved the car and always owned manuals before so thought I'd give it a go- not disappointed so far.
The colour is 'mirage' which is a cross between silver and gold and looks decent.
From other posts there seems to be a lot of beef aimed at Porsche dealers- is this usual? I looked at both private and trade motors and ended up by buying from an independant dealer whose car appeared to be the best of the 20 or so I'd looked at in terms of condition and mileage for the price. Why is there the perception that they are rip off merchants? Or am I opening a sizeable can or worms?

Nah .. Most every one here's a dealer .. We just like
in with each other ... Lol!
It's actually quite a good forum with a bit of everything!!
Mainly the car buying public complain, and the car dealers try in vain to justify why the customer is wrong!!
But in a nice way...
