GT3 RS Availability
Discussion
If the demand continues Porsche will just supply more cars..the days of limited supply and outweighing demand are well and truly over as far as Porsche are concerned, hence the fall in second hand prices allied with Porsche now being the most profitable car company in the world. If the laws of supply and demand existed in Porscheland we would all be buying these fairly common cars now 25% cheaper.IMO Porsche cars are now to be more compared to top BMW'S/AUDIS/ etc than Ferraris, lambos etc as they were historically, there are too many of Porsches to considered rare and exclusive.
Now I know the phrase 'pinch of salt' will come to mind here but :
My OPC said they were told by PGB, that there would be a limited supply of GT3's so as not to depress the used market as happened with the 996.
They presently have 3 definate cars for this year, with 2 deposits without allocated cars as yet - apparently.

Just enquired at my local Porsche dealer, (Jersey) apparently all UK allocation (only 70) of GT3RS are gone...no more to be had..is this true?
That kind of story is often followed a few days later by a phone call saying that just one has become available and if you jump in quick at full price you can have it!

I was told that Porsche would NOT be capping production of this car - i.e they'll build as many as people order.
Beyond that I think that the fact that the US is now getting the RS means that there are going to be more RS bits/chassis/spares which may lead to greater GLOBAL availability - that and the fact that it's supposed to be a better road car will mean more demand and more cars to meet it.
if they were limiting it to GENUINELY 70 new UK examples I would *PROBABLY* get one. (having said that there are probably UNDER 100 996RSs left with so many being smashed and a few exported and the odd one turned to track only cars.. and it's still lost lots of money.

thanks guys... not massively bothered either way between gt3/rs...might be tempted to spend the extra 14k on some ruf bits to make it more genuinely useable day to day - height adjustable dampers and the ruf cage spring to mind.... or for a few coppers extra possibly the 3.8 engine out of the rgt...
If you want one you can order one doesn't quite ring true at the moment: see start of this thread, I don't know anyone who ordered a 997 RS in the summer who hadn't owned a GT3 before, the order book for 2006-2007 (55} was full within 2 weeks all purchasers having to put a 10k deposit down a tactic Porsche used to eleminate dreamers/speculators. I think if you realy want a RS its just a matter of waiting for the production run to move into 2008 or pay a premium to have one in 2007 that includes buying an imported car at the moment. If you want a 997 GT3 thats another story,,,
