Hi, I am thinking of buying my boyfriend a 'Porsche Performance Programme' day for his birthday. At £650 I was wondering if it is worth it? Any advice would be appreciated. He has a 2004 Carrera 4 S and is not 100% confident with the handling, thought this might help. Anyone had any experience of this programme?

Thanks in advance.

I'm looking to do this as well (but may pay extra to hire one of Porsche's own cars, rather than use my own - I haven't deceided yet)....

I expect it to be good fun and really useful about driving one of these cars well. In truth though, you probably need 3 or 4 of these days to really get to know your car, and a fair bit more practice on top!!

Should be good, although there are probably cheaper alternatives, but if this includes use of Porsche's own cars, this isn't a bad price. Is it for a full day? I know they have a proper programmer they do with various levels you can climb. Is this part of that?

See my post above - the £650 is for a full day (6 hours driving plus breakfast and lunch) - it is another £400 or so to hire one of Porsche's cars for the day.

Thanks for the replies - and to Kennyboy for the offer!

I got the details from the Porsche website

www.porsche.com/uk/motorsportandevents/sportdrivingschool/drivingexperience/level1/

Didn't realise it was £400 to use one of their cars - looks like he will have to use his own!

Anyone actually done this day?

Thanks again, much appreciated.

I'm sure it will be good, but not great value. You might want to consider this chap :

www.john-lyon.co.uk/

He's not to everyone's taste, but he can certainly pedal. He can also do road or track training depending on what you are looking for. His road course is only 250 a day I think, and you'd get more out of 2 days with him than 1 day with Porsche I am certain. He literally wrote the book on 911 driving, well one of them anyway
