Calling all the previous owners of ace_part's (and now my) RS-tuning ECU for 993tt.

I aquired this a couple of weeks ago and am thrilled as previous posts will testify.

Then last night when putting the car away it just died and wouldn't start.

After trying the obvious things my local indi eventually got the car going again by unplugging the ecu and plugging back in. The car is now running and starting fine again.

My indi is keeping the car overnight to make sure it starts ok in the morning and if not I'm gonna have to reluctantly put the original 408 ecu back on.

So my question to verysideways, ace, phelix et al is - have any of you guys experienced anything similar on this ecu? My indi thinks all connections were fine so if there's a problem it may be internal.

If this is the case can I go to RS or Techart?

My apologies for the narrow interest on this post - I really don't want to lose the ocean of torque I'm enjoying now!

If not, it might be a cracked circuit and RS takes care of it. Glad you did the right choice, makes me not giving up when the subject comes up.

Never had any problems with it, certainly nothing like this.
Suggest you keep the original ecu in the car with you so that if it happens again you can either try unplugging and plugging back in, or unplugging and putting original ecu back in.

Sounds dodgy though, if you unplugged and plugged back in and then it worked perhaps it was just a dirty contact or something like that?

May sound a long shot BUT after some work i found on RARE occasions the car for no apparent reason flooded ..............first time i did nt believe it until rac man removed fuse 26 to pump , turned engine over till it fired, replaced fuse and not a problem! Its better to remove DME relay , same procedure ......after remapping chances are u are chucking oodles of juice in .............this occureed with me maybe only 4 times in 3 years cus be any weather , track day or left in car park NO PATTERN

Thanks for the response guys..... here's an update.

It's definately not DME, that was tried first, it's not fuse 26 either as suggested on rennlist.
I'm glad to hear no one's had any problems, I'm committed to this ecu and am looking forward to getting the sports cats after new year.

As described it was the ecu and I'm hoping it's a dirty contact.
the car stayed in the workshops tonight and started fine this morning.

I'm doing exactly as you say Pete - leaving the original ecu in the car with a spanner until I get it checked over by tech9 or RS.....fingers crossed as the unit is over 8 years old now. but then again if somethings cracked or failed on it they might be up for some sort of repair or swap.
