How true is this? - Porsche Carrera GT1

"The Bugatti Veyron is the current benchmark of exotic raw supercar performance, surpassing the 1000hp mark and has been the talk of town long before it was actually launched. That might end soon. Porsche is planning a Bugatti Veyron killer called the Porsche GT1. The announcement of the new GT1 comes shortly after Porsche announced the end of production for the Porsche Carrera GT. The Carrera GT (shown above) was only in production for 3 years and there are only 1,111 in the world, with more than half of it in North America. The new Porsche GT1 will offer roughly 950 horsepower and will likely be based on the same chassis as the Porsche Carrera GT, except that it will have a solid roof coupe body instead of being a roadster. Despite having only 950 horses, the GT1 is expected to be lighter than the Veyron for better power to weight ratio. The Porsche Carrera GT weighs only 1380kg while the Veyron weighs 1887kg. The GT1 is expected to be around the same weight as the Carrera GT. Of course, it will likely have all wheel drive to put all those horses down to the ground so they can be usable for some good acceleration times. Top speed is expected to be 254mph (408 km/h), 2mph over the Veyrons top speed of 252mph."

Jesus Chr*st. Just what's needed - another 1000 BHP road car. Any chance that that baldy bean-counting scrooge bastard might let the engineers go race something? Something works-backed? Before we all forget that the only reason Porsche got to exist to build insanely profitable 4x4's and charge hundreds of quid for footmats is that they were - once upon a time - a force to be reckoned with on the World's circuits and rally stages. You're just not going to attract the engineering cream of the crop unless you're at the cutting edge. Competing and winning keeps the engineers on their toes, and motivates everyone to bust their balls. Porsche haven't been there in so long now, that they're going top forget how they ever managed it in the first place.
Edit - The CGT is still my favourite of the road-going megacars. But even that arose from a still-born racer, and I was really disappointed at the time that the CGT didn't get to see the track like the GT1 before it. Seriously. It's only effing money, and it's not like they don't have enough of it. Porsche are just no fun anymore.

I heard that the Carrera GT was initially designed from the outset for a race-series that got scrapped so Porsche developed it for the road - Also, the lucky buggers that own a road-going Carrera GT have an engine that is designed to deliver 850-900BHP in its original race guise - Or at least these were the figures that I heard it could do.
It effectively was de-tuned for the road and therefore I am not at all surprised if this Uber-Carrera GT if it ever surfaces would not be a massively different to the model that we see today.
I would not expect it to have 4WD.
