Hi All...
Given the fact that I already own a 997 2S,and given that I am prone to the odd act of madness. What do you folks think would be a good stable mate for my current car? I have always had a thing for classic cars in the past, but I have to say that porsche-itus has taken hold!
My knowledge is limited being my first ever porsche, I am learning about other models as I go along. I have never driven anything porsche other than my new car, I have however been a passenger in a 996 gt3, and while I was blown away by its power it was very similar to my car. Maybe something a little further back in the bloodline would be appropriate. I really rather like the 964rs, but they are like hens teeth and think a bit over priced (maybe not) at 40 to 50 k for a low owner/milage first class car.I called about one advertised and it went up 4k in as many days!! Dutch auctions are not for me.
I have owned a Lotus elise S2, and I do miss the raw/hard/pinpoint handling and chuckabilty of that car, very light weight. 30 k miles in three years in a go-kart was a lot of fun. I think the big problem is how do I get to drive another porsche to see if I like it?? Budget wise around 25 k, I would sink more into the right car but I dont want to have a mega low milage and be caught by the "its a lovely car but what ever you do dont put many miles on it" Any thoughts and advise would be really helpfull. I guess two cars means lower miles per year on each, so thats good. Heay what about three??? I jest. maybe?
Thanks everyone..

From your post you seem to like 911s so:

What about a LHD 964RS - might see one at 30 or thereabouts

or a 3.2 Carrera possibly a Club Sport (CS possible for 25? I don't know)

or a 964 turbo 2 for something rather lairy

or if you are willing to go outside the 911 bloodline a 924 Carrera GT, rare but well within budget.

Sorry I should just say I do like the 911 line I am however open minded on other models.
Maybe my only thing is non turbo? Thats more from cost to maintain/sort of power delivery/weight/lag etc.. Am I being a bit narrow minded perhaps?? The other thing I find perplexing is price guides..their arnt any!!! or if they do exist where are they?? I know condition condition condition with history etc, but surely an idea?? Can a 964rs with 30 k two owners be worth 20k more than 65k four owners??
Perhaps so..thanks again.

Depends on budget.

A nice 993GT2 is an extreme non depreciating 911 and a nice one could be bought with care for circa £120k.

If you want to do lots of trackdays, i'd go for a GT3.

If not, an early pre impact bumper (pre 1973) 911, at a strech a 2.7RS but if not, an "S" would be very nice.

Good luck

Ajit.

I added a 330bhp Exige to the stable and now find the 997S to be bus like. Go lightweight for the thrills/fun you miss in a big fat Porsche.

What about a 924 carrera GT? very rare, quick, exciting nice handling, and its big problem is you wouldn't want to use it every day, you've got the 997 for that!
