Evening all,
I am new here so go easy on me !

I have a 1995 993 C2, which had done 90k, and feel it maybe time for a change...
I had a 1997 993 C4 before my current one.

I have being toying with the idea for a while, but am unsure what to go for next, the car is my weekend car/toy that does 5,000 miles a year.. The odd track day 3 or 4 times a year and a few 'Ring' trips too.

Do I (A) look for a nice 993 C2 Varioram with 60-70,000 miles for around £25-26k (would look at another C4 just not as fun)
or
(B) I have been looking at 1999-2000 996's (but must have the GT3 kit) for the same money..(nice one at Northway)

I don't have loads of money, and will have all my money in what ever I buy, so a car holding its vaule will get my vote.

Having 993's for 3 years, I may of out grown them, but love them to bits !!!

Thanks for your time.

From what I've read on the forum you won't find a better one.

No point in going from a pre vram to a vram just to get the vram imho. Better the devil you know and spend the "upgrade" money on mods, live ecu remap, better rear boxes, change the shocks and you're call will feel like a new one.

Although it probably don't drive as pure, the 993 2S/4Ss look the dogs...

If you do want to change, 964RS could be worth a look. Won't lose money on it. Maybe a nice 3.2 Clubsport? Maybe even a 968CS?

Early 996 - nice cars but as with most 911s, that particular breed have their foibles which are well documented. Be prepared for a completely different feel to your 993s.

Cheers

Ajit.

the trims not that bad - and the reason he's not asking £30k for it - as its a mint version with warranty!

Sounds very similar to my old 993 which i modded over the years, got it the way i wanted it and then sold it (2 yrs ago). DOH!

Wish i'd kept it now (Wife warned me about this at the time, knows me better than i do). Wouldnt swap the time i've had with the GT3 but wish i'd kept the 993 too.

cheers

Ajit.

Dan I have a mate who is selling a Speed Yellow Golf GTI Convertible. Not quite a GT3 but Golf and GT3 start with the same letter.

In all seriousness Dan, don't be a snake in the grass. Check out the Sunday Times motoring section from last weekend. The 993 got an honourable mention as a low depreciating machine. If you trade up to a 996 you'll feel the bite of depreciation much more than you do now and that's a bit ruff!

Dan As said above, you are not going to lose much on your current 993 over the next year or so. Keep hold of that until you can afford what you really want - a GT3. I certainly would stay clear of the high mileage 3.4 996's, you will only regret it in a few months time.
