Times Article titled "Going down ... how to beat the depreciation effect"
http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/arti

Boxster 3.2s and 993 owners seem to be on a good thing (but 993 owners best of all!). If the figures are to be believed, it is about time that we had some good news from the media on residuals!

Isn't this article over simplistic as it doesn't take into account options which can add siginificantly to the price of a car?

Yes our 987 was horrific on depreciation after 6 months. in that time it lost 30% or £13K of it's new price.

The price range given for the 993 is not wide enough - plenty higher and a few lower.

Simplistic or not, its publication in the Times means the article will perpetuate a myth rejected by some postings on this forum. And if your Porker's value has dropped like a stone, then any mass media article that helps soften the landing (with perhaps mythical residuals) is surely good news.......

Anyway, I suspect the dataset is somewhat dated. It has a key line noting that oversupply characterises the motor industry at present. If the Boxster can now be built to order within three-four months, then I am not surprised by CatherineJ's and others' experiences.

Bon festas! party
