After 3 months of ownership of my brilliant 997tt I am kind of thinking about changing the somewhat "bling" alloys to something more mainstream. Has anybody seen tts with other wheels and what is the general perception of the perfect wheels for the turbo.

Identical sized alloys (ie don't need new tyres) painted black from someone like techart?

I think the original wheels look better than the mantheys. The colour looks fantastic too. What is it seal grey?

The colour is a special colour called slate grey metallic - the same as the colour of the inside rim which is standard colour for all 997tt alloys.

I'm with slippydiff on the magnesium alloys - gorgeous. I was reading about them yesterday on the Manthey site. Apparently they're developed exclusively for Manthey by BBS Motorsport, save something like 20 kilos (for a set) over the original items, and cost around 3,000 Euros a piece including VAT. Which probably means they do at least as much for a Porsche's unsprung weight as the PCCBs. Hope they last a little bit longer.

clorenzen - love the combo. Schiefer and Tan. Scrum.

I personally would keep the originals I have seen them when clean and they do look a bit shiny and bling, but once the shine has gone with a bit of break dust I think they look great.

When they look like this (and weigh as much as crisp packet) who cares ?

I'd rather go this route than take the gamble with PCCBs.

They look great, but I just googled Manthey and they cost € 2.259,68 per corner. Wife wants diamonds, I'll take a couple of magnesium alloys for Christmas.

The TT looks pretty good with the 997 GT3 alloys IMHO.

Manthey offer 19" wheels for 997 in aluminium at a more reasonable cost than the magnesium ones. This may be an option worth exploring as the cost for all four is 2826 euros plus vat.

It is a difficult decision as you can get used to the "bling" wheels and the fact that the coloured rim matches the car's colour makes it look less like an aftermarket add-on.
