964 RS VIN numbers

Morning all,

Is it possible to identify a 964 RS from the VIN number, ie. a specific range of numbers or letter designation or are they just lumped in with C2 VINs?

Looking at chassis numbers there is the usual WPozzz lark, then

RS has 490

seperate chassis designation for clusport of 499

Cups have another chassis number....probably not relevent.

a possible example of an RS lightweight chassis number wp0zzz96xns490100

a C2 number may end with 401100 for example!

Clear? Thought not!

Out of interest, what's the difference between an RS and Clubsport spec? I assume the Cup is the race car?

CS is basically road going cup car....amongst other things fully welded in cage and lack of interior trim should give it away.

It is coming from mainland Japan so rot is unlikely. If it turns out to be a real RS that is!
