i have a 1985 911 carrera without a whale tail, i would like to fit one do i need to change the boot lid or will it fit on my existing one

They come complete with the bootlid. Try a breakers. I think they are quite cheap - a mate put a C2 electric jobbie on his 1984 3.2 without too much hassle.... his problem was different boot hinges, but I think a 3.2 whale tail will use the same without problems. The C2 spoiler was problematic because they locate air con stuff differently on the C2s, to make space for the electric motor for the spoiler, hence the different hinges. Be warned, if you have air con, swapping spoilers can be made more difficult through lack of space - although a whale tail will have more space beneath it.

So overall, good idea, should work, see a breaker - and make sure it's a complete bootlid and spoiler from a 3.2.
