Now that a good few cars have been delivered & the order books are pretty full, I am interested to see if 997GT3 sales are coming from existing Gt3 owners upgrading to the latest model, or if the latest more road friendly version is attracting sales from the daily driver enthusiasts gene pool, rather than just the hardcore tracksters!

So if you have a 997GT3, on order, delivered, or have decided it will be your next slice of Pork please post below..

The car you are coming out of (last two)

The GT3 spec you have gone for including the colour, under one of the headings below.....

Track focus (club sport)

Road & Lots of Track (perhaps bucket seats only, no roll cage)

Mainly Road (standard seats & extra toys?)

I've always had a 911 road car, since 1983, and mine is the latest in a long line. Replaces a 996 3.6 C2.

Mine is 'comfort spec'. I already have an RS, CS and a Caterham for austerity and track days.

It's Meteor, PCCBs, Xenons, Audio+, Cruise, PCM & Phone, Heated Sports Seats, bit of extra leather, colour coding etc.

It has exceeded my expectations and it will get the occasional track outings - when the tyres are near the limit

With familiarity it feels like a much smaller car (as do all the best 911s) because it is so responsive and easy to place. It is also a car that feels tough and useable - not one to cosset and polish. It's built for purpose and it delivers brilliantly.

My GT3 will be built in March 07 which will be my second car.

I've had 3 Porsches in the last 10 years:-
944 Lux - everyday car for 18 months.
944s2 - everyday car for 4 years.
993c4 - second car for 5 years.

Colour: Special metallic @ £1522.
Options: LW buckets, black leather, xenons, cruise, sat nav, sport chrono +, carbon pack, colour coding.

I dont know which category that spec falls into but i'll be using it for road use with occasional track use.

Last 2 cars have been Merc SLK 350, and a 996 4S.
Presently have a GT3 on order for March delivery which will be a 2nd car for road use only.
Had a run in a Mk2 GT3 and found it a bit too hard for everyday use, but on reading initial reports on improved comfort on the 997 decided to go for it.
Spec will be pretty much as follows :

Basalt, Blk leather, PCCB's, auto dipping, adaptive heated seats, PCM, Xenons, small carbon, thick leather SW, sound pack, yellow seatbelts, sport chrono, roof aerial (no cost).
Still undecided about leather rear console, but read somewhere a few people did recommend it ??
That's about it, apart from I can't wait to take delivery !!

Geneve,

By extra leather do you mean the rear console and/or doors, If so would you recommend it ??

I'm not sure what I got for the money, but it cost £1640. I think it's the dash and door tops. The door panels and cubby box lid are alcantara. It's all very nice, but I've seen a GT3 without the extra leather and the standard finish is still very good.
