Guys,

Went out to my car the other day, after having been standing for 4-5 days, pushed the button on my key........and nothing. Tried my spare key......nothing. Panic set in, and then I remembered - in the old days, you actually used the key !! So I try it, set the alarm off, and then the key button worked again, turned off the alarm, and it's been fine since.

Could it be just the batteries in the keys ?? or something more sinister ?? anybody else experience this ??

Mark.

Normal - it's sleep mode.

the alarm switches off the remote locking after 5 days to stop it draining the battery.

You open the door with the key, insert key into ignition - turn on, then off, close door, and hit button - the car will fully unlock and be back to normal.

You shouldn't need to open the door (which sets the alarm off), just unlock with key (leave door closed) then use the key button to lock and it will then work as normal - without having to set the alarm off.

The key fob DOES NOT work until the key's been in the ignition for me...

With my additional security, I don't have this problem.

I can remote start mine too, did I mention that?

That's not working correctly for you so Fidg .. Mine wakes up as soon as I manually unlock it ...

Me neither!

On O/P's question - the 'official' way to wake your 996 from sleep mode is to put the key in the door, turn the key to unlock and with the key still in the same position, press the unlock button on the key. Hey presto! All awake and raring to go again!

Sounds like a small man left inside everytime you lock up, who sits there waiting for your next outing. One eye permanently fixed on the door to your abode, waiting for the handle to turn, your head to show and the nod to be received. Once activated in this manner he will check the car's not in gear, start it with your spare key, unlock the doors from the inside, check your mirror and seat adjustments and turn the cappucino maker on, before folding himself into the central armrest cubby from whence he came. Am i right?

Saw this system being advertised at a show a while back...
