My neigbour has a 993tt, with about 50k miles on the clock.

The clutch has just given up on it, but is it usual for a clutch to be working one day and then not the following day? I sort of expected the failure to be more progressive?

The symptoms now are that you can get it into gear and start to pull away, but once the revs hit 3k the engine just spins up without much forward progression. So definitely the clutch it would seem, but he claims it seemed fine until it packed up. I thought there would be some occasional clutch slippage to start with, or a stiff clutch action?

Any thoughts?

Local OPC has quoted £1,500 to replace.

Clutch is hydraulic on the 993 turbo. Mine has a little over 50k and seems ok.

The great thing about the 993TT is the equal cost of fixing things. A replacement clutch is about £1500 or replacement hydraulics about £1500.

Is there such a massive difference in price between my 993 C4 and a TT then? - My C4 clutch was about 800 quid fitted confused

Errr, 993tt clutch at my indie is £1k using genuine parts.
C4S was the same (drop engine), C2 was less than £700 (drop gearbox instead of engine).

In my experience they should go progressively, mine slipped and just got worse and worse. That's if it's the plates - maybe something else?

Either way 50k sounds about right - about £1k all in from my indie.
