Saw my first 997 GT3 on the road today, near bluewater. Was Silver.
Really did nothing for me atall.
Definatly pay the extra and get the RS.
Maybe it's just because it was silver? Guess white may be better...

Yes!
Listen mate, if it helps look under 'Pugsey's New GT3' on here to remind yourself how pug ugly the thing is and then take it from me what complete rubbish it is to drive - utter cack, a complete chore - honest! Bet you're glad it's me not you that has to do it!

OK Just seen the thread! Its not ugly or anything, but for the extra what 18k? RS just looks like a true supercar.
Aslong as your happy with it thats all good!
Too late to back track now matey! - I'm off to Homebase to buy a few tins of Brilliant White emulsion. Washable obviously. I agree the RS takes things on a stage but maybe a bit too far for me as an everyday driver - even my boring old cooking version graunches its spoiler coming on and off my drive - oh and I couldn't find the extra £18k down the back of the sofa either!Aslong as your happy with it thats all good!

Ouch! The good old spoiler crunching noise. I had allot of that with my 996 RS. It's not a nice sound!!
How is it over speed bumps?
So far only come across small narrow ones - bumps really, and it's ok. I think more sloping ones where the spoiler reaches the slope well before the wheels are going to be the problem. Although it sounds hideous off the drive it's actually only roughing up the underside of the spoiler so far.How is it over speed bumps?

Don't agree at all, just look at this picture, the racing cars look fabulous with their full side logos, the Gt3 looks pure class, a real pedigree. The RS looks like it has had an accident at a Halfords store, crashed through the front door & picked up some maxpower paint , black alloys & extra bolt on bits.
Then again (he says hastily)I can understand the guys that have gone the RS route, although those vibrant colours will frankly look a bit chest wig in town, they will look awesome on track where they should be most of the time, add in the wider track, single mass fly wheel, suspension mods, lighter weight etc & the RS is a fabulous awesome car....but not becaues of dayglow paint & bolt on bits!

Theres one platform when you come back of the Eurotunnel UK side that took mine off.
I'd been so careful all week and managed an entire trip to the Nurbugring scrape free.
Then when trying to go up this slope the car was just too low to get up, and I couldn't reverse as I had loads of cars behind me, infact I had a Ferrai 360 right behind me. So had no choice but to just go for it, I seriously thought my bumber would of got pushed up it was so bad, but when I checked had just snapped off that black plastic strip. Was still £130 + fitting though
After that I think I took everything on full lock.
The RS also had plastic brake cooling ducts, which were just about 1cm of the ground. They would ground out even on A roads! And that was after having the ride height set as far up as possible
All good fun

Maybe it's because I've already had an RS that I still like the RS but for me that RS in that pic looks great!!

PS - if they hadn't boxed me in I would have lapped them
