996 C4S buying advice
Discussion
Hi,
My future father-in-law is seriously considering investing in a 996 C4S. He has been told that the first major service is due at 36k miles. What does this cover?
Also is there anything particular that he should be looking for or be wary of on this model? Does it have any weak points? Does the 4 wheel drive require much servicing?
Any help and advice will be much appreciated.

I have a C4S. They are beautiful cars and shouldn't require anything special because they're 4WD. The major service shouldn't be any more expensive than other 996 C4 unless the brakes need renewing (the C4S has the Turbo brakes so will be more expense than the standard models).

Picked up our C4S 2 days ago - awesome car and strongly urge your father-in-law to take the plunge! I know it's stating the obvious but he should consider 111pt OPC check/warranty if not buying from a dealer.
Well he has well and truly plunged, which I think is great.
He has got a 12 month warranty from the independent dealer. He was wary at first as they are only a small outfit and quite new, but they are very keen to make a name for themselves and have urged him to return to them with anything that he is not happy or sure about. They specialise in Aston Martins (they are based near Gaydon) and only had three Porsches; a GT3 (sold); the C4S (now sold) and a Boxster.
Hopefully they are an honest bunch. I think he will have a grin as wide as yours in a week or so
