I was in New Jersey the other day, and saw a Porsche model that I couldn't identify. It said "911" on the rear, and looked like it had Cayman fog lights (lights were inside of the side nose intakes). Didn't get a great look at it, so I'm not even sure if it's a 996 or 997 (didn't see the front long enough to notice the headlights or side mirrors - the usual 997 clues for me).

Anyone out there know what this model is called? I thought it looked a bit nicer than the "usual" 911 for some reason, not sure why. Of course, about a mile down the road I saw a 997 Turbo, which sort of overshadowed it's sibling. Then driving into NYC later in the day I saw a Ferrari 599 on 11th Ave, which overshadowed them both. Quite a day!

The car you probably saw was a 996 "Anniversary" edition to celebrate 40(?) years of the 911 build.

They are a stock Carrera 2 with the turbo front end, different wheels and a special silver colour

got 911 written on the bootlid with "anniversary" underneath

There's one for sale at www.cridfords.co.uk

The wheels were part of the spec but are a bit 'blingy' in my opinion , the bhp is up , quoted at 345 ..
