I am asking this for a friend. Honestly.

He has been offered a 3.6 996 but it is pre-facelift?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, can this be? he has been told there was a short time when the 3.6 was fitted to pre-facelfit cars...?

I have never heard of this, but I am by no means an expert...

Cheers

I think what you are driving at is this:

The facelift occured for the 996 Model Year 02. However this doesnt mean that the car has to be a 2002 car to be an MY02 Facelifted car, the later 51/01 cars (as mine is in fact) can be early registered MY02 facelifted cars. Im 99.9% sure that any 996 with a 3.6 Engine in it is the facelifted model - your friend could tell if he really needed to by checking that the car has the Turbo style headlights, and clear indicators.

Its all very confusing, but then blamange confuses me.

3.6 was indeed part of the facelift, with the new lights etc. Correct on the MY02 also - the model year for the sports cars starts in August (or July maybe?) of the previous year...
