they have a new purpose built place in horncastle, it makes some OPC's look a little cheap

takes me about an hour to get there. . . . .

they specialise in the air cooled cars but know the later cars inside out aswell.

Have just had two front control arms replaced on wifes Boxster at Millbrooke. Whilst it was in I asked them to inspect the rear suspension as there may be wear there as well given state of the front.
Bill was £100 (or near enough for each part.)
labour for replacing was £120 having been given an estimate of between £100-£150.
No charge for inspecting rear suspension and an all clear given.
Did work immediately.
Vehicle immaculately valeted on collection
All persons who I dealt with were polite and efficient.

What really swayed it for me was I wanted to pay the bill by card I was told that they were not rigged up for cards at that time, after thinking s**t and offering to tramp the wet streets of Attercliffe to find a bank they said do not bother take your car and drop the money in when you are passing sometime, I had never met these people before. Imagine that conversation down the road @ good old Porsche Centre Sheffield.com!!!!

Can recommend 911sport.co.uk - Phil looks after my GT2 - very thorough and reliable ..... in fact it spends more time there than it does on my drive!!

Well I got my car back after its "service" confused . Well I thought it was a service - It was a hey we'll have a look at your car, do nothing and charge you £160.00 for the pleasure, and by the way here's a a nice list of work that's required. That's a nice little earner if ever I saw one. Ho hum I should've asked and found out in advance. irked

Well for your delectation here is the list (all inc VAT) :

Change brake fluid 108.00
Change battery 272.50 eek eek
New high tone horn 68.49
Replace rearmain oil seal 878.50
Replace O/S Cam Cover re-seal 496.81
Exhaust heat shield bolts 95.07
Rear undertray 116.10
Front discs and pads 630.37
Air dams cleaning 117.00
Spark plugs & polynee belt No price

This doesn't include the fact that I have the "wrong tyres" - not N2 rated whatever that means.

The car ir 4 yrs old and has only done 39K miles. I wouldn't expect the discs to have gone in this timescale - especially as this is the girlies car as she's not at all hard on the car.

A tad expensive

Why so much for the battery and exhaust bolts? or chaging brake fluid for that matter?

Do you have a probelm with the battery or are they saying change it because its 4 years old?

thats a lot of money for a relativly young car with low miles.

Think I'll give these a miss when I move to Donny.

Phil

I think you want to be getting some 'N-rated' (i.e Porsche approved) tyres on there. Someone told me once that you could have a problem with insurance claims if you don't and whilst I'm not convinced they speak the truth I didn't think it work taking the risk.

Have a look at this: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=48&h=&t=225907

Believe we're on N2 and 3 at the mo.

I think someone is pulling your plonker. If in doubt call your insurers and ask. Provide tyre is correct size, DOT road approved, in good condition with correct amount of tread depth why would the insurers be worried?

Ahh Ok I missunderstood. Thought that was from the independant place.

Is the battery particulary unacessable on a boxter? as its a 3 minute job on most cars and a top range Bosh or Varta sealed is about £70-£80 DIY

Not understanding the acid part either from someone above. Are not most batteries these days sealed?

Hi

the battery is very accesible on a boxster and 996...they come dry charged and you have to fill them with battery acid your self..normally the dealer will do this and charge before you collect it....

But £100 to fit it is outrageous !!
