I have taken my MK2 GT3 in to my local OPC this morning for an oil change. It is not due a service, but as the car has had the oil in it for over a year I felt happier swapping it out. I have also asked them to fix a problem I have had since I took delivery with the passenger door window motor, which has not been working as it should and dropping the window when you close the door. It has also being pulsing when the door is open.

I have just taken a call to be told it also need 2 new rear tyres (ouch!) but that it needs a new window motor, and this is not covered by the OFFICIAL PORSCHE warranty? Now I have told them to go forth an multiply, as the car had the issue when I took delivery, and I chose to wait until it was next in the garage to have it fixed, but my question is this. Surely this should be covered by the warranty??

First service experience, and not feeling 100% happy right now. Thoughts please?

I am very surpsied it isn't covered - have you got your warranty book to hand?

you owe me a beer or 3!

looks like your getting the run around, I had the same issue with the window, got it fixed by an indy then realised it was covered by the warrant irked didnt even ask the OPC!

porsche warranted part number

6454 - Power Windows Motor

OR 6456 - Relay for Power Window

OR 6458 - switch for power windows.

would be interesting to see if they try and squirm out of it.

Thanks Gary, very useful information too. They may try and squirm out of it, but I wont let them. This is the first time my car has been back to them for a service, and I am loosing a little faith right now...

Further clarity, they have told me the it is the "Door Lock Module" which is faulty, and reconfirmed this is not covered by the warranty! They have also informed me that they are putting through a 'Good Will Request" to Porsche to get it replaced, but as far as I am concerned this does not sound very efficient to me as surely this part is not excluded from an OPC Warranty?

They are trying to be all very nice and that, but I get nervous when such an apparant small part goes tits up that it is not covered by the Warranty and it seems the verbal (yes I know, dangerous) discussions I had about "getting it sorted next time it was in" have been forgotten. Lets see what happens, but I never EVER had ANY issues with warranty claims on my M3's...

to be fair ive never had any issues when having a warranty job done, and in the past 12 months they have changed ALOT, they did try and quibble once, well to be fair it wasnt a quibble more of a "we cannot confirm if that part is covered" (MAF Sensor - 3 days before I was leaving for a 10 day hoon across europe) they fixed it free all the same and got me in to fix it the day after I called.

I'd love a copy of the list - having "issues" of a similar nature. Can someone PM me?
