OK, flame suit on......I know ballcock will be along shortly, but does anyone else thing that this interior is actually ok looking:

maybe it is the black mats......it also helps that this is the exterior

Why oh why did Porsche do away with the centre red strip on the C4S

HenryF....hope you don't mind my lifting the pics

Replace the centre console with an alu one and you are half way there on that car.......not bad at £43K (still not as good as the gumball GT2 though)

Yip I still like full sav, prefer my own two-tone version though....

Open your minds! grey/black/metropole = boring & conformist, Savannah = individual.... but not quite as individual as the boxster red/grey stripey combo that was on here a few weeks ago...that was just taking individuality a little too far.

My two tone one ....if the photo works for a change!

Given his radar for all things tanned - Ballcock had already spotted this one........

I think the whole problem rests with the fact that EVERYTHING is covered in leather.

In the mid 90's ford did a light blue interior for the mondeo which was much the same - covered the dash, seats and steering wheel. When I saw savannah for the first time it looked just as tacky as the Ford!

Other than the baby's first efforts interior as a car it looks great and I completely agree with the red strip comment. Makes the car so individual.

is that savannah or the tan natural leather? Actually looks OK so presumably tan or the photo quality (savannah is a hideous baby-puke yellow)

Actually think the small ali pack helps a bit and disagree that the all-leather look worsens it - it is the clash of yellow leather and black plastics that make savannah looks so awful, it makes the plastics looks as cheap as they are. This has been drastically improved with the sand beige now used in the 987/997 because a)it is a much subtler and less yellow shade than savannah and b) the plastics are colour-keyed rather than black.

Don't think the price is that great either - its a silver/black price and I would want a couple of thou off just for the difficulty of onselling.

good spec and lovely exterior though

btw - ruffled seats are utterly crap, presumed there were just for the no-taste German market like maccasar and green interiors but is alarming how many UK buyers like their seats crinkly and artificially aged.

Swap the steering wheel and you would have a vast improvement IMO. I have a cream interior in my Cerb, love it and it goes really well with my Green.. but I would NOT have a tan or in fact any light coloured steering wheel, just so wrong.

Tan CAN look nice, but definitively not in the standard shades that Porsche use...

look more 'golden' to me..... I think its fine. Does lift the interior from all the Black/Blue ones. Exterior colour also works ok.

If the price is right, go fo it.

I had a 996 C2 in Vesuvius with Savannah interior - quite a "unique" colour combo !
I actually liked it, but people either loved or hated it, no in-between.
One thing to watch for, is that this colouring on the upper dashboard does produce a reflection in the windcreen that can be very distracting.
I never really noticed it, but when I did it really did my head in - everytime I was driving I could see the dash reflected in the windscreen !

When I came to sell it, I was told that the colour combo would kill it, but in reality I had loads of interest and sold it for the same money that your usual black/silver with grey/black leather cars were going for. People actually seemed more interested because it wasn't the "norm" colour.

R.

PS: Would I have that colour interior again?.....No.

That's gorgeous!!

It's the same interior as I have in mine and (obviously) I think it looks really well with a dark exterior colour. From the replies you've already had, I'm clearly in a tiny minority but I thought a black interior felt a bit dreary and ordinary. If you buy it, I'll take it off your hands when you trade up to the GT3!!

You know how I feel about it , Irish!!

For what it's worth though , if you were thinking of buying it and importing it to Ireland , I think you'll find it's a MUCH more acceptable colour over here ... I reckon it might be because Porsces are much more of an event in Ireland , and unusual interiors are expected.. much like prancing horses..

Of course we also happen to benefit from a naturally occuring good sense of what is classy over here too !!!

In any event , you can't lose ... You'll get that car at a knock down price in the UK , and it won't affect the sky high price you'll get for it when you're selling on in Ireland... (sorry Marko!!)

A 100% Savannah (including air vents!) could be be a bit too much.

I'm quite happy with partial Savannah interior though as my steering wheel, center console, door handles, roof lining, instrument binacle, center console facing & surround etc. are black.

If I replace my mats, I might go for black as a half way house to full back carpets but black carpets show up every grain of sand and thus need to be hoovered-out more regularly than I have time for.

Savannah seats work well in hotter climates though - childhood memories of burnt legs on hot black vinyl seats!!!

The reflections on the windscreen are something that you get used to and they can be ignored.

Looks like "Savannah" - "Natural Leather" is a far deeper and richer colour.

I'm not a fan of the way Porsche puts their interiors together...blue leather with blue carpet, red leather red carpet etc. Much better would be to have specced black carpets (inc door panels) to have gone with whatever colour of leather. And coloured steering wheels; oh dear!

Unless, of course, you bring it within an asses roar of the OPC with a view to trade-in, in which case they'll tell you that a Savannah interior means that you have to give them money to take the car off your hands.

I had the faintly surreal experience a couple of weeks ago of idly admiring a C2 Convertible the Porsche Centre had in the showroom and asked how much it would cost to trade up. When they asked about my car and heard it had the Savannah interior, there was the customary sharp intake of breath and whistling through the teeth. "Oh, Sir, we don't like taking those in as the Savannah interiors are very unpopular with our customers."

I pointed out, not unreasonably IMHO, that the car I was looking at also had a Savannah interior yet the asking price did not seem to have been adjusted downwards accordingly. I was told "Oh, it's very different in convertibles; Savannah leather attracts a premium in the soft-tops."
