When I had my S2000 I would sometimes come across a "characteristic" of it's VTEC engine. Normally on track days, when the engine was at high revs and one was on a very tight right-hand turn some oil would seep through the PCV valve into the chamber and burst out of the back in a puff of smoke. It looked pretty terrible at the time, but doing more rearch I undertood what happened and put it down to "a characteristic". Part of that research was from an American track who ran S2000 only track days and said it would always happen to a few of the cars on each day he ran.

I believe I may have found the same on the Cayman S.

High revs, very tight left hand turn, engine warning light came on, message read "Engine management problem. Visit service centre" (or similar words), looked out of the rear mirror to see smoke. It seemed to be just one burst as the smoke stopped and the engine light and warning message went out. The engine continued to work with the normal power & torque and without any strange noises. Checking the level I found that it was slightly below full. The car has since done a number of short journies and a long 400 miler still without any indication of a problem - no funny noises, smells, smoke, lights, power delivery different, etc..

Has anyone else experienced similar? I'm wondering if this could this be a characteristic of the Vario-cam plus and PCV? If not, any ideas what this could it be? Could it have malfunctioned? I'll drop it into the dealer to give it a once over, but I imagine this will involve plugging the computer in and a quick look round.

For those not aware of PCV, this article explains:

Can't comment on the Cayman but my S2000 does the same but you have to be attacking the tight corner very hard to make it happen.

I'm sure it is similar with the CS and the fact that the warning system turned off shortly after does point to it.
