We've got a bit of a 944 league table here:

www.cannell.co.uk/944%20UK%20League.htm

from the past two years of Dyno Days that I have organised at Weltmeister at Silverstone. Mostly Turbos but a few S2s too

thanks for that, am a bit more impressed with my results now after seeing the other s2's.
Any one else out there with s2 dyno results?

IF you check the rolling road thread I think Zcacogp saw about 203 from a totally standard S2 with, iirc, over 100K miles.

Tertius - many thanks, you are quite correct. It was 203.5, with 119,600 miles, on Vixpy1's rollers (Surrey Rolling Road.) All stock, no (known) engine work done, regularly serviced and generally looked after.

Tertius, I have also seen your comment on the relevant thread, about the fact that I should be jolly pleased with the result. Thanks for your kind words, I think I am pleased!

Good stuff! thumbup

I loved my S2 and still miss it. A really, really under-rated car in my opinion.

Hmmm, yes. I am still getting used to mine (only 6 months in ... !) I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it's hitting more and more buttons with time. I was disappointed at first; it isn't *that* quick, particularly below 60, and feels a bit unwieldly (after a Mk2 Golf GTi). However, it's strengths are elsewhere - it really does pull at higher speeds, surfing a long wave of effortless torque, and it does cruise very easily at speeds well in excess of a lepton.

Under-rated for sure. Value for money - massive! Still hanker after a nice 993 tho'. Yours looked fantastic at the rolling road day (you were leaving just as I was arriving.)

I think much of the feeling of unwieldiness is because of the weighting to the steering especially at slow speeds. I don't think they feel unwieldy at speed, solid yes but not unwieldy.

You are right about the VfM though - its just astonishing.

You are most kind about my car, I do think it is the dogs wotsits, but then I would ... we'll have to get you out in it some time - shame you weren't at VMax today ...

I wasn't that impressed with my 944 at first but as has been said it's strengths are subtle and not immediately apparent, swift and fast around the twisties (mullered my mates chimeria thing), and as fast (neck and neck) as a honda S2000, for £4500, 'yacannawackitman'

Love it, cheap too!, only a 928 could be more sports car for the money surely?

I presume the 215 quoted for a standard S2 is at the crank, so you'd expect maybe 200 at the wheels?

What did it do at the wheels? If you don't mind me asking. And what type/make of Dyno.
If you got over 200 at the wheels then you got a real rocket ship!
Corrected flywheel figures are very misleading. Good dynos don't use them at all.
Interested to compare to my 2.5 s1.
