Does anyone make a good aftermarket exhaust system for the GT3 that will actually still pass noise tests ?

My cargrapic sounds fabulous but evrytime I try to get on track I'm sent home !

Is my only option to return to standard or does someone make a nice sounding (but not quite so loud) alternative ?

TIA

Am having the same dilemma myself, my standard Mk1 is now testing at 102db @ 75% revs. Apparently a Cargraphic replacement is 102db as well. Its approx £300 per side for an OEM replacement back box but I don't know if this will be any quieter?

My Standard GT3 read 103 stativ at 75% yet I got a C4S with a sports exhaust through on a 98db day go figure?
I am having a Tubi system fitted next week so will get that tested and post the results if that helps?

Kind regards bo

So it seems it's pointless me trying to get a standard system as it would still be over the limit most places ?

Will look into a tubi maybe as 90 sound very low - whats the cost ?

Standard system usually passes noise tests at all the UK circuits. Cannot see why you wouldn't fit one in that case. Why go for a noisy system anyway, this just blocks out that manic induction whine that you get in the higher rev ranges.

Chuck the Cargraphic and buy a second hand OEM system, one on Ebay at the moment, mufflers, headers and cats. One cheap way of passing the noise tests.

Or sell the Cargraphic to me and buy the stock item!

I'm thinking of keeping mine to put back on for trackday season.

Interestingly my stock Mk1 GT3 (with Cup air filter) only registed about 95 at the noise test at Croft a few weeks ago (stationary @ approx 5,700 rpm) so was fine to go out and play. 101db stock eek

The stock item is very efficient to be honest and after market systems give only marginal power gains unless they are combined with an engine re map. The downside of the standard system is that it's quite heavy but, If you want to do track days you are better off with keeping your exhaust standard.

That's a good point actually. If I were to get a new system (cat back) put on, and then get a remap done. Would going back to stock for trackdays screw up my mapping?

It probably would and a GT3 engine costs 40K to replace. I can see the attraction for an after sales exhaust but Porsche got it pretty right with the standard GT3 unit.

The system that is on my car was fitted by a previous keeper so I have little knowage of what has been done in the past.

As far as I can see the manifolds are OEM but the cats are stainless - so i'm guessing uprated higher flow units ? and the silencers are stainless

I'm thinking that I could maybe just replace the silencers with standard items - bit of a shame because it does sound fabulous as it is - maybe I could keep swapping to standard for trackdays as it doesn't look like to bad a job ?

Does anyone make a system with a switchable butterfly like the 997 sports system for a 996 ?

Anyone know if Mk2 units will fit a Mk1 ok ?

Only other worry is I don't know if the car has ever been re-mapped ? whats the best way to find out ?

Thanks for all the help guys

I know of one system with a switchable butterfly. I really want it, but there is a slight cost issue, and I don't know of anyone running it, so who knows whether quiet mode is quiet enough. The straight through mode sounds awesome though - almost F1 like.

Have a listen to the clips on the site. Good time to buy now I guess with the USD so weak. It is made in Japan, so may be more cost effective direct from the Japanese.

That looks a good solution

No video of it in anything other than f1 mode though ! - would like to hear quiet mode before parting with that kind of $$$$ !
