Yeah yeah yeah, they look great...

... but they're the worst wheels I've ever encountered when you want to clean the bloody things...;-)

Anyone want to swap a set of black-painted wheels for some immaculate 19" SDs? Seriously...?

Been there...

Had 19in SportDesign wheels on a Lapis Blue 997 Carrera. Looked stunning in the showroom but the worst combo you can get on a Porsche. SportDesign wheels are totally impossible to keep clean and Lapis Blue looks permanently dirty.

Current car is Silver (there is a reason most are..) with Carrera S wheels.

When I specc'd mine I really wanted the SDs, but decided against them thinking they'd be too difficult to clean.

You have just confirmed my suspicion and convinced me I made the correct decision.

Thank you

I just did an online survey asking me how much I would be willing to pay for an option that kept alloys clean, free from brake dust and resistant to corrosion with a 5 year guarantee.

Obviously some sort of coating on them - sounded a good idea and said I would tick that box if it was £500 odd (not the £1000 to £1300 they were fishing around mind you)

anyone know what sort of product they are market researching?

The Germans have come up with this stuff called Nano that you can coat just about anything with (ie windows, wheels etc even wood and other materials)and it enables quick cleaning by simply rinsing off. Application lasts around 6 months I think (probably depends on material) but apparently its brilliant stuff. I know in some Swiss ski resorts they've coated the chair lift seats and bus seats and stuff in this Nano thing. Don't know where you can get it but it's probably worth a google
