Just bought a C2
Discussion
996 C2, 1999, 56k miles, blue, manual, FPSH, OPC inspected, bought 12 months OPC warranty, 18" turbo II alloys, uprated sound system with becker sat nav, heated seats, NO traction, private sale, absolutely mint.
Boyhood dreams finally realised, drove back sensibly with a big grin on my face!! Haven't really pushed her yet, plenty of time for that, just can't get over the looks this thing attracts... people either think I'm either a drug dealer or got a rich daddy. Still, it's the car I've always wanted and now i got one. Woo hoo!
Early next year I plan to drive down to southern france, across the millau bridge, down maybe to northern italy, up through switzerland, through nurburg and back upto blighty. Can't wait!

is this the turbo?
Nope, turbo's weren't made until 2000 I believe. This is the 3.4 N/A C2. It just comes with turbo II wheels.

best way, sport chassis instead of traction controll, which incidentally kicks in anyways when you turn it of if your on the edge removing the real feel of unaided 911
well done and welcome.
well done and welcome.
Exactly!!! I mean if the 462bhp GT2 doesn't need it, then why does the "tame" C2!

Not Quite Ducati-Gary... The Traction control (not PSM) when de-activated is OFF.
I agree with the Sports Chassis + when you have TC as well it means you can really explore the limits on the track before the car tries to correct - with it off you can find out just how good/bad you are with car control.
Well done on your purchase and enjoy it...

sorry mate, I meant PASM (thats TC no?), armed with the 911 sales book for the 996 type 911's (I got it with the car, just putting reciepts away etc) it says, with regards to PASM
"if sport mode is selected, the suspension sets to a harder damper rate, if the quality of the road surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediatly changes to a softer rating within the sport set up range. This adjustment enhances occupant comfort as well as traction and grip. when the road surface improves, PASM automatically reverts to the original, harder rating."
PSM also automatically kicks in when pushing too far if you have turned it off aswell.
best bet is the NON PASM and PSM cars, all IMO of course

Technology's not your thing is it or did you buy the 996 handbook on ebay? Ever heard of the difference between Traction Control (TC), Stability Management (PSM) and an Active Suspension (PASM)?
