Insurance no claims discount/bonus
Discussion
As if insurance isn't a rip off already!
The fact that if you have two cars you need to earn two seperate no claims discounts on each policy - that's a complete con. Its the driver who's insured not the car - if i have full no claims on one policy then why should I have to start from scratch on another??
Now some insurers are starting to "mirror" a driver's no claims from policy no.1 to policy no.2.
I was told yesterday though that they can only "mirror" one way... ie if you have full no claims on a Porsche (group 20) then they'll mirror those for say a Corsa (group 4) but not the other way round!!!
Its utter BO LLO CKS

But the NCB goes with the person not the car, so surely all you need to do is transfer the NCB from the corsa to the Porsche, then mirror back to the corsa
Or am I missing something?
I've got the Porsche's NCB mirrored over to the RRS with Elephant, they had no probs doing it albeit it was high group to medium group.
Rob j is right, it can be done very easily. They can transfer it and intro the lower group vehicle upto max bonus.
Make sure if you have 6 years plus ncd they quote the correct actual amount as 8 to 10 years ncd can make a slight difference with some insurers, if they say it doesn't they are lying.

Thanks for the info.
My current insurance with RAC on my Corsa doesn't expire till the end of April 07 - this policy has full protected NCB.
I cancelled my second insurance policy on my 993C4 at the beginning of August this year when it sold although this policy had no NCB attached.
My new GT3 will be arriving March 07 and the best quote i've had so far is with Adrian Flux (£1400) although have only got quotes from them and Peart (£2350) at the mo.
So how can the whole insurance situation be sorted in this instance?
Which insurance companies are insuring other GT3 owners - 996 or 997 to be?

Surprisingly my best quote on my Mk2 Gt3 was from Elephant, at about half your best quote so far.
Your solution is simple cancel. Assuming the Gt3 comes in March, cancel the Corsa policy then transfer the NCB to the GT3, then mirror the Gt3 NCB onto the Corsa re-insuring that with the same company as the GT3.
