I wondered if anyone could help with this.

My '98 996 has the sunroof - and ive noticed the 'back' of the cover moves up and down (whereas the front doesnt). This is the interior portion - not the exterior.

anyway, it tends to rattle on bumpy road surfaces, which is somewhat irritating - and i wondered if it was a known issue/easy to fix?

mine rattles to, its a feature.

to fix I think you have to take the leather roof lining out, I asked a specialist about it and he said the time it would take would make it not worth doing and then he couldnt gaurantee the lining would come out in one peice, so might need new lining aswell.

I did grease the runners, as they squeaked a little everytime I opened it when i first got the car, that fixed the sqeuak when opening but not the rattle (which ive now put down to a loose screw above the lining as when I hold it it doesnt rattle)

Be there! 7.30 Potters Arms (of something) Kings Road. You have no choice non-attendance is not an option.

Ballcock, MT and I have booked into the local Travelpit for the night. Everyone has been ordered to have their drinking boots on.

Nerv when you say "fix" I don't think putting his P&J on its roof thus stopping the rattle for good is a real "fix"
