Choices choices...
Discussion
Our Boxster S company car is coming to the end of it's term and we need to make a decision what to go for next. We're only considering 3 options - another Boxters S, a Cayman S or a Golf Gti (the 'save at least £500/month option').
I'd welcome some opinions - is the Cayman worth the extra money over the Boxster? Is the Cayman better on track? Is the 3.4 Boxster much better than the 3.2 Boxster?
Should we take the Golf option and spend the savings on an Elise to use on track?
Thanks
Jason

I think the choice between the Cayman and Boxster S is determined by the importance (or not) of the slick drop top roadster configuration. I don't imagine the 3.4 will feel that much different to the 3.2, but probably a worthwhile step up.
GTi is very competent for a hot hatch, but it's not a Porsche.
Of course, you could take the GTi and invest the saving in a real 'classic' 911 (2.4 E or S, 3.2 Club Sport or Speedster, 964 RS, 993, etc). Keep it for fun and special days and let the GTi take the strain..

Boxster S every day. I guarantee that after running a Boxster for sometime you will really miss the soft top if you swapped for a Cayman
only two seats can sometimes be a pain but the smile factor of the Boxster makes up for tis in spades. I just cant help thinking the main appeal of a focused two seated sportster will be lost with a Cayman

er.... the current Boxster S has the same 3.4 engine so the main advantage / justification for the price premium of the Cayman has disappeared
I like the Cayman but IMHO it is not worth a single penny premium over a new Boxster S. It will be marginally tauter on a track but not so you'd notice unless you are a seasoned track enthusiast.
Only reason to choose the Cayman is if you don't like soft tops or badly need the extra boot space and seeing as you currently have one I suspect that is not the case
