Is this mileage too much for a Mk1? I dont think it is as long as the car has a full service history.

I cant think of any reason not to get one with this mileage as long as the service history is top, just opening it up to the general views of the board...

Its not too much, and imho i dont think that a car selling for 30k pounds will depreciate much more even if double the mileage is put on it in 4 years?

thanks guys,
best

Theres no such thing as too much mileage if a car is cared for and is priced accordingly. 45,000 miles in 6/7 years is not too much.

If you double the mileage then maintenance costs will be far more than depreciation.

I suppose it'd be good to know that they were mostly motorway miles rather than mostly track miles..

Are you saying you have found a GT3 for £30k??

Adam, lhd surely?...a few changed hands at that price a year ago - all lhd and one of them had a bit of a dodgy German past. I'd buy one for sure...and if it's RHD feel free to throw it in my direction ;-)

Adam, I couldn't find the post but when this question was asked previosly I remember one of this issues with mileage was how many times the car had been overrevved (harsh down changes) this would potentially do the most harm.....a read of the ecu you should disclose this......obvious to assume full lubrication services...etc.....

Assuming it is straight and tidy, I can't see much down side apart from running costs for a while....worth a punt!

mine has 50K and pulls like a train - had it since 30K and annoyingly haven't had value from my warranty yet as nothing significant has gone wrong

Adam,

Couldn't Hans Peter have a look at it and a brief drive? I should think that he'd know within five minutes whether it was a keeper.

Cheers.

Adam,

At that price it's a no-brainer. Buy it. (As long as it's straight).

Mine has 40k miles, engine has never missed a beat and I track it regularly (but I change the oil every 5 track days and have never, ever overrevved it). It truly feels like it could go on til 100k (or more). Buy it

That is low mileage.. These engines get sweeter with miles. I was in a GT3RS recently and the engine wasnt as sweet as mine...Buy it

Hans can definetly drive - he took me out on the German roads in a Blue 996 Ruf RGT
with lightweight doors and took a bend so fast that I just shut
my eyes and prayed

Adam - my RS has done 34,000 miles ie over 50 K mostly road/track miles
and touch wood its still going well

If a regular 911 engine can take 100k+ miles, the GT3 engine is surely good for double that as long as it is well looked after...

GT3: probably the best engine that Porsche have ever made.
