Mine has finally popped up after i traded it in at a main dealer for an M3 CSL last month.

Black low mileage T reg C4 at Cridfords. Unless they're trying to sell it without respraying the front bumpers, putting new front discs and new rear tyres on it, I can't imagine how they plan to turn much profit at the advertised price!

By the way, great minds think alike, i've heard of at least two other guys making the same move in the last few weeks. Wonder if they're all planning on moving up to a TT after that too??

Coz they are rip-off dealers like all the rest..i bet you they said they had to give you a knocked back bid for the car because of the aforementioned required work? Now when someone wants to buy the car 'that work will be unnecessary sir its a 16 year old car and you cant expect it to be perfect'.ive heard it all before soapbox p.s good choice of car my csl was fantastic.thumbup

A lot more engine drama at high revs, but a lot less vs burbly porsche sports exhaust at low revs. Lots of fun with SMG gearbox and all it can do, dont miss heel and toe and all that yet. Fewer admiring glances from the opposite sex, more admiring comments from car geeks (which is nice in a different way - people filming on camera phones, car park attendants giving discounts because 'that roof is wicked, man!!!', other regular m3 drivers pointing out to girlfriends who couldnt care less). Less coffee beans signals despite my far more hooliganistic driving. Far far less traction - only 40hp more, but traction control in 4th inthe wet vs in 1st if you rag it on a damp leafy junction in the carrera 4. To that extent more chuckable - partly because it feels more recoverable, and partly because the seats hold you in so well. Though more steering feel in the pork (though both a mile from my old elise and even my first car a pug 205 gti. Surprisingly practical. Less dramatic than c4 from some angles but way more impressive in the details. A more exclusive club too, though within minutes of girlfriend getting in the car to listen to me banging on about exclusivity, another identical one (Anis, if you know him) pulls up alongside. Wouldnt have been so bad, sitting at traffic lights on the A4, but the third lane had a police car sitting in it. I digress... Expensive race car stylee sounding clink when you close the doors rather than a porsche whump. Cant wait to get it on the track, since ive heard it compared with an nsx for hooligan fun, and the c4 was a bit inert (tho maybe c2 is different). Basically not far from gt3 for 20 grand less. Im sure i'll have a porsche again, since new m3 doesnt appeal, hopefully a TT or GT3 will be a realistic prospect. Or maybe i'll have settled down and want a nice smooth db7 vantage or something? TVR thoughts continue to lurk, but still seems high risk. Shame since Sagarais and CSL arent so different in their aims, if not the execution! Gosh, that was a well constructed late night ramble! In a nutshell, its faster and more frisky and has more wow factor with blokes and less with girls

PS did you know that if you type text speak at bm3w.co.uk such as m8 or l8r, it replaces the words in your post with the word 'be ll end'? I think that's brilliant. Ted, can we change it so that anyone writing RMS has it changed to 'sphincter'?? Thank goodness in a year of porsche ownership, i never had a leaky sphincter...

done the same as you mark and I agree with every sentiment you said!!

you must find it entertaining after come from a C4 as well. I had a C2 before the CSL and it was almost like reading my post in the BMW section of the PH forum in moving from 911 to CSL.

every day I own the CSL the more I get to exploit it and truly admire what a crazy bit of kit it is! playging golf today with a few mates so I can get 3 sets of clubs in the back as well as transpot the guys as well in true giggly style! they are both itching to get out in the CSL....think we will dump the clubs off and just go driving instead!!

practical, bags of fun, huge grip, loads of grunt, great sound, less of an occasion than my old 911 (mine had the GT3 kit on it and wheels) but it looks like a wolf in sheeps clothing.

for the money I don't think there is anything else out there to touch it!

I would not move to the TT as they are too dead to drive. GT3 now you are talking!!!

don't talk to me about cridfords. what a fcuking joke they are! rip off place.

hmmmm seriously tempted by an M3, ideally CSL as a 911 is just not going to be practical with a young baby

can I ask a very boring question - does it have ISOFIX points in rear (presumably not in front pax seat due to sports seats)

as a slight aside i was driving next to an M3 the other day as it booted it off and as i had the windows down enjoying the last of the sun i could appreciate the exhaust and engine note. GODDAM ITS AWFUL!!! sounds like the automotive equivalent of getting your tackle caught in your zipper! IMHO obv ..

M3 CSL always brings back memories of the TG review with clarkson and his thats a carbon fibre roof that is ... geeky

Enjoy

Price you recieved in p/x was the part exchange allowance NOT the stand In Value

The price you paid for the CSL allowed them to give you a grand or two extra to what the trade bid on your C4, I expect the remedial work WILL be carried out and yes the should make a reasonable profit

Its called business, and as a % of turnover profit margins are pretty crap, i expect their NETT margin will end up being a mere 5 or 6%!

I had a csl,i had a gt3...tt too dead to drive?have you actually driven a tt for more than a 10 minute test drive...?i got bored with the 'lot of noise and not a lot of speed' with the csl in 4 months, the gt3 lasted 6 months. The tt is the ONLY car ive ever kept for more than a year coz it never fails to impress....especially since the DMS chaps popped roundthumbup

Hey, im not saying i was done over in the 911. quite the opposite, just surprised they were able to turn a profit. And if they were able becuase bmw actually sold it to them for less, then i have no idea how bmw made their usual margins! Fair play to them all, everyone's happy!

Yeah M3 exhaust note not too impressive, a bit buzzsaw. But CSL induction noise at 8000rpm, now you're talking. Used to be able to set off car alarms with porsche exhaust at low speed, will miss that a bit...

The stereo is better than some may have suggested, the carbon roof glints nicely in the sun, it has a very direct turn in, the throttle blipping is loads of fun, you can leave thick black lines on the road unbelievably easily, those figure hugging chairs make it easy to get the back end out (on your private estate obviously) without trying too hard or being flung around while you do it, the duck-tail spoiler looks great, the front carbon splitters are way less fragile than s2 elise (sadly from experience) er, it has a talking voice that keeps calling me michael, it has special jet rockets, and an upgraded flux capacitor..., erm, that's it... Oh and it has a glove box, which is nice.

It bings a lot - seatbelts, leaving it in neutral, lights, i think it sometimes bings to tell me it's binging.

Fantastic - I'm literally weeping with excitement here.

I love the blip on the downchange, I got quite addicted to that on the testdrive.

Why...? why would you do that? Much like the evolution of man, first we were fish or something like that, then we grew up into monkeys then we learned to walk upright and make fire, then we moved into offices and spent all day on the PH forums. So why would you want to climb back down the chav-olutionary car chain to the world of BMW, burberry baseball caps and 'WhatWickedMotaz Magazine', stable mates of the Ford Fiesta with exhaust pipes larger than the Dartford tunnel. silly
