hello

noticed after bringing the car back from OPC on monday the clutch felt ALOT different, as if the bite was no longer down near the floor but more to the top.

anyways, coming back from shopping just now, gets onto bypass, change from 3rd to 4th, and the clutch pedal stays down, as in fully pressed, thought i might have been trapped under the carpet or somthing, so I lift it up with my foot, only to find the clutch is hardly engaged at all.. .. .. ..

managed to limp home, clutch slipping like crazy, does anyone know if you can adjust the clutch lever? I think this might be the problem.

this is my only car, i live in the middle of nowhere, could do with some help here peeps please, dont want to call porsche assist iff poss.

thanks in advance.

I could be waaaaaaaaaaaaay off the mark but I *think* the clutches are self adjusting and it sounds like the slave cylinder has gone walkies.

Fingers X'd that I'm wrong matey

What work had been done at the OPC, seems like a strange coincidence?

So you replaced the C2 on your profile with a cut down CGT cos you thought you were showing off rofl

Had a similar sounding problem a few years ago, with a car I won't name on this forum. paperbag

Pressed clutch pedal down, clutch pedal stayed down. Turned out a linkage had snapped between the pedal and the clutch.

Bitch of a job to put right.

to be honest, the clutch has been fine, no probs and this thing really does feel like its adjusted out a little to far, one the way back i kept the revs low (so it didnt slip too much) and there was no strong smell of clutch, never has been, thats what makes me think its not the actualy clutch, the pedal not returning up, thats odd too.

I think you should change the profile again and just casually mention you have a convertible Cayman.....

Having said that the CGT did look good. 2 seats, V2 engine, 1 litre - the new "smart car" from Porsche - there will soon be scoop photos of it being tested round the 'ring by Walter The Great

Clutch (if like on 993s) is self adjusting, hydraulically actuated. It might not be the slave cylinder as the master cylinders are pretty good at going AWOL too. If you're mechanically competent then you could stick it on stands and bleed the circuit from the reservoir in the "boot" through to the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder.

Having said that, you're probably a sensible warranty holding type so could get porker assist out, but they may well treat this as a consumable problem and bill you for it. Best of luck.
