Yet another story in the press about the police attacking us for speeding... mad

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5340846

I reckon if every one of us covered a couple of letters on our number plates, they'd be screwed! the government would have to chuck their speed cameras and variable speed cameras in the bin! Now I'm not being some anarchist here, but it seems madness that since these 'variable speed' cameras went up on the motorways accidents have increased.

I have to rant here, but every one of my tax paying, hard working mates has been mugged or attacked in London in the last few months, but that's ok because those crimes don't make the government any money! And it's not just London, another mate was 'escourted' to the cash point in manchester at knifepoint!! They never caught the guy. Our cars get trashed and it's all 'fill out the form, sorry nothing we can do, go call your insurance with this crime number'..

Now I get it that we need to calm down our 'hooning' when it's near a school, or in a built up area.. but we're all going slow then anyway to let the school kids shout 'wow' and 'cooool'.. that's why we bought them as well!

so let's all cover our plates for a day, or better still, let's all move to Germany, last one out can turn off the lights byebye

Interesting that the article actually speaks of targetting people who are driving while drunk, or driving recklessly.

EITHER you have the wrong end of the stick, and they won't be trying harder to target those who are 'driving with enthusiasm', OR the BBC/Government Propaganda Machine is trying to make the story more palatable.

I feel my cynicism gland going into overdrive.

this bit worries me

"The association hopes motorists will avoid contesting their speeding charge because if they lose, their costs will include up to £4,000 for the cost of the team."

....is this justice, installing a "special" team inorder to up the potential repayment costs if dispute fails just to deter potential claimants? This can't be justice can it??? Surely the people who can afford to hire these specialist lawyers won't be put off by this fee, but your average joe will certainly think twice about contesting a fine that may well be incorrect, thus accepting the fine as the lesser of two evils! mad

nah it's the speeding bit I get hacked with, still it keeps us legal boys buying new porsches so I shouldn't complain too much!

I won't comment on anyone's glands, I think that's a different forum! hehe
