This thing is good. As part of my job I get to drive some exotic machinery. The last time I drove anything this good was a supercharghed XKR 4 litre V8. Sure off the mark the big cats faster. But the 944 is up there with the best. 70 to O my goodness was awesomely quick. This is a much under rated car. Fantastic. And all this fof less than £4000. Shes a peach. A super car for the price of a shed. I love depreceation.
All I have to do now is join the IPEC & sort the insurance.
Shes off for a checkover in a week. But judgeing from the way she went on the 200 mile journey home theres not much wrong with her.
All for a chance encounter on ebay!!!! Cant wipe the grin off my face.
Jaz sure know how to build an engine.
Thanks to Fat boy & the others who made this possible!

Glad you are chuffed with it ... I've never driven an S1, but they are meant to be more of a rev-fest than the S2, and therefore feel much more zingy ...

Nurburglover eh? Planning a trip with that 944?

It's the other way round, The S2 is slightly peaky and likes to be thrashed, while the 2.5 8v power delivery is much more linear.

The S1 is the 2.5 16v - the lux (mine) is the 2.5 8v...

The S1 was indeed reputed to be far more revvy than the later S2 from what I've read...

I've never heard of the 944S referred to as the S1 before? I thought the original poster was referring to the early dash 944.

I don't think I have either, but am assuming that this is what the chap is talking about.

(I have heard the 968 referred to as a '944 S3', which is apparently what Porsche were planning to name it.)

I've not heard it called that either, but just assumed it was a retrospectively applied moniker

Will post some pics when i've had time to take some. And can work out how! Have just joined TIPEC. Worth it for the discount insurance.
Was reading the service record last night. £7500 in the last couple of years. Ouch. Hope its nearly there now. Feel a bit like a goldfish driving it. Everyone looks at it. One guy asked me if it was an Alfa yesterday! Biggest problem. I need to keep the mileage down to keep the costs under control. But just want to drive it.
Trip to the Nurburg ring is high on my priorities. Might have to settle for Oulton park for now.
Cheers guys.

God knows where I found it,looks like a scan of an old Autocar. Interesting that this was taken before 1990-a good few years before the 968 actually appeared

yes
Definately take the 944 to the ring.

I did it this summer, and I swear you'll appreciate your car that little bit more afterwards!

(Just take it easy for a good few laps,if its your first time! eek)
