Becker installation help
Discussion
Just bought a Becker 7944 nav head unit to replace the cdr-22 in my 2001 996. Everything is working fine except there is no sound. The connections at the back of both units appear identical. The car has the sound packet, so only the pre-outs on the head unit are used. When I put the old unit back in it works fine.
Any ideas?

There's 2 connections you need to bridge and then it'll work fine. Look at my profile and the threads i've started and you should find one where i posted the solution to this. If not PM me and i'll try to get the wiring diagram for you - it's also on rennlist if you happen to be a member there. Easy fix and gets it all working in a matter of minutes.
Just out of interest..... how old are your nav discs?

Ah, just found it.... put a 'jumper' between block A pin 5 and block C1 jumper 6 and it should work just fine (it's 'cos you've got an external amp). Interestingly I've done this job on my own 996 C4 and have a friend who's done it on his Boxster S and on both we agreed the sound quality from the Becker unit was noticeably superior to that from the OEM unit.
Good luck and let me know how you get on.
PS Just put a jumper wire in rather than cutting anything then you can remove it as if it was never there.
