Advice on painting Cayman wheels
Discussion
Folks,
I have a Cayman due in a couple of weeks and am almost certainly going to have the wheels painted by the OPC. Trouble is, doubts are creeping in as to how it might look, so before I finally take the plunge I thought I'd ask the collective expertise that resides here.
The car is white, with cocoa(brown!) leather interior (yes, I know, but I long ago decided to ignore the resale value issue!). I intend to have the wheels painted brown to match, using the dark bronze that they used to put on Ford Granadas in the 70's, with the rims left unpainted...
So, votes please. Yeah or Nay?
Also, will there be any issues with paint adhesion or wear and tear that I should be aware of?
TIA.
Phlea.

Well it's not to my tastes colour-wise but who cares? If you want to do it, and you don't give a hoot about resale then why not?! It's just a set of wheels - you could replace them down the line if you wanted to...
As to finish - I'd get on the 'phone to the folks at say, Jasmine PorschaLink and see what they say - they do lots and lots of Porsche wheels...

They'll certainly have opinions on the matter I'd have thought.

My local Bristol OPC had a white Cayman with red wheels for a while - looked fabulous but a bit too brash for me.
I have thought about changing my 19" SportDesigns for black wheels on my Arctic Silver Cayman S but I'm not brave enough even for that! Pity - it would have hidden the brake dust!

This is a good thread - as I have been thinking of doing this for fews week now.
Firstly I saw a black 997 with black wheels (sport design 19s I think) which looked superb, then on Friday I was at the Nurburgring and saw this (the red one, mine's grey)
Now although red isn't my colour, I think this looked really smart.
I was thinking how mine would look with black wheels and if it's possible.
Is it as simple as going to a body shop & they take the wheels off, clean, paint, lacquer them?
Will the paint chip off?
Will it look silly on the wheels I have (ie. only work on the Sport Design)?
Will I devalue the car?
Will the warranty (wheels?) be affected in some way?
I suggested it to my girlfriend who said "absolutely not", but there again I didn't involve her in any aspect of the selection/purchase so I could probably work around that!

Ben, powdercoating seems quite common for finishing wheels

Good God, just my opinion but you've made two mistakes why not a third? Seriously brown wheels would be awful, why are you matching the interior? More than 2 colours for ext/int/roof/wheels is too much (unless wheels are left alloy). If you must do it I would say go white for wheels.
Just my opinion obviously and I admire your courage if not your taste

it just doesn't work:
I think it looks great with black wheels
If it had the 'Sport Design's (ie. the ones with lots of spokes like the red one in the pic above), then yes, but not on those wheels IMO.
Oh, and I preferred the Sport Designs but thought about cleaning and thought NIGHTMARE!!!
