Found a GT2, viewed it this weekend, spent 6 hours + on the road to do so and just received some dissapointing news....its a 2004 car and therefore I had assumed a 2004 model, I spoke to Porsche today with the chasis number and he told me its a 2003 that cost 115k new and not the claimed 135k odd by the dealer.

Its a clean car no doubt about that, it drives well and the only thing lacking is bucket seats. But now I know its not the 2004 model I am very worried about buying something that could be worth a lot less than I had thought, does anyone have a view on whats a fair value for this car?

Its 2004 reg, built before aug 03, 5k on the clock, DMS upgrade and a carbon pack.

Thanks for the help

Nice guy up there, can't fault them, but just worried about over paying now I know its a 2003 model.

I'm reckon so, should it have the Carbon Fibre mirrors and rear wing or were these an option on the 04 cars ?
Judging by what's on the market at the moment I'd say around £75-77K. It is very low mileage but some may see the engine upgrade as a downside not a bonus.

No carbon mirrors or wing. Pretty standard really except an interior carbon pack. But I hear the 2004 model was just more sorted with mods to suspension etc

Hi there the one with carbon mirrors and wing was a 996 turbo not gt2 just a look a like turbo S.

The GT2 he has there is a very nice example and good value for money.

I wouldn't pay a premium for a car that had only done 4k in the 3 years since it was built. Cars sitting still a long time can be worse than getting used regularly. IMO.

Looking at the ads though, seems a few GT2's have sold quite recently and at higher prices (advertised at least) than I recall seeing them at last year.

04 model cars (so 53 plate on) had carbon fibre rear wing and carbon "look" wing mirrors (carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic apparently) as std on the clubsport version, the carbon wing was an option on the comfort model

wouldn't want to pay more than 70-72k for this car IMHO, seeing as 02/52 plate cars with teens miles can be got for 65k

unfortunately I am agreeing with all your comments, I say unfortunately as I would like to buy the car and I am just not prepared to buy something for more than its worth. And its the second time I have had this happen lately!

I still regret not buying a friend's polar GT2 (02 car on 17k for 63k and this was a year ago!)

Be patient and console yourself their prices are going the opposite way to your car savings/interest

it was quite confusing and an obvious mistake as it was registered on a 2004 plate with the GT3 wheels aswell

Bit naughty considering its advertised as registered 1 March 2004 and is £82k!

That TechArt's a bit tasty, over the top but still tasty.
