is roof noise normal?

Hi all,

I've just done the HPI check, sent off the deposit and organising the finance for a fantastic boxster S!! So am waiting with baited breathe for next weekend to pick my new toy up.

I do have a query though, when the roof mechanism is in use, there is quite a loud mechanical noise. It sounds like its struggling a bit, is this normal and if not do you think I should be worried? The car has done 25000 miles and the roof is nearly always up (only been down twice this year.)

Any feedback would be gratefully appreciated.

Yep - I have a Boxster S and first time I tested the roof I thought exactly the same. Seems to be the norm. Enjoy the car

My Boxsters roof wasn't particularly noisy in operation. It *could* be expensive if there's a problem. Having said that, if it's not been operated much running it up and down a few times could well ease things. Diagnosing a noise in type is almost impossible.

If the noise is graunching, get it checked before purchase.

MoT runs out in November though, might try and get her to renew it b4 final purchase.
