I went to look at the Sonauto 914-6 I misread the bumpf on the coys site and when I regesterd and wanted to look at its le mans history and looked at the paperwork realised it was the sister car to the le mans car! note to self look at the detail before driving 70 miles!
Dirks yellow 74 RS was withdrawn? same happened to his orange 2.8 last year??

I viewed the sale items and there were some interesting cars, and a few disappointing ones.

The biggest disappointment was the 'barn find' 2.7RS that had a dreadful paint job and would probably need a good £40k+ restoration. However, it bid to £74k. Not sure whether it actually sold though.

Coys will normally publish the sale figures on their website.

I went to buy the 928 S4 Sport that was on offer after doing lots of leg work and investigation on it.

Described in the catalogue as 'as new as a 1988 Porsche can be' - Yeah, right - the last new Porsche I looked at didn't smell like your grannys damp bathroom or have seats with fag burns in every cushion ! In Fact, the last 20 year old Porsche I looked at was 1000 times better !

Needless to say I didn't buy it but was amused that it bid to £7,200 and didn't meet reserve - well, with the other £5k that needs spending on it I'd say about £5k would be too much.

However, with the money burning a hole in my pocket I only needed to walk about 200 yds and bought one from Henry at 911 Virgin - thanks guys.

Did you buy the one on display? looked a nice car. I wandered who the specialist owner was. Must be in cracking mechanical condition.

The silver one, yes.

Picked it up last night, just had it serviced today and driven it home and it's lovely.
