Fitted some track day corsas to my GT3 a few weeks ago, Noticed when i took the car out that i have a very strange vibration from the front and the car is pulling hard to the left at around 80mph - at around 50 all seems okay.

This never happened before i changed the tyres so i took the front left off to be re balanced thinking it must be this one as this is the way the car is pulling.

The tyre fitter said it was balanced okay but the tyre was out of shape when he spun the wheel stating that i needed a new tyre.

I have never heard of or experienced this before, has anybody else?

Sureley the tyres would not get past QC?

Cheers

I had a virtually identical problem with a Bridgestone on the Noble a few months back -- tyre was indeed out of shape, only noticed at 80+ or on a rolling road. Was replaced by dealer at their cost ... so it does happen although very rare I suspect.

Cheers Mark - glad to know i am not on my own, the problem i have is that i got the tyres mail order, i am trying to source a new one tomorrow as i am leaving for Germany early on Tuesday Morning. Dont fancy the long drive with the vibration.

Once i have a new tyre fitted i will send it back to the dealer or Pireli.

A friend of mine did a day at Bruntingthorpe for GT magazine(the Riviera Blue 99RS featured in this months GT Purely Porsche) a couple of months back. He drove down and drove home and has Corsa's on his car. I got a call to go and pick up his rear wheel as he had a punture...so he thought!!

Upon removing the wheel he found the inside wall of the tyre had split all the way round the tyre (the same as you see disgarded HGV tyres on the motorway)!!!

The tyres had been fine up until then but needless to say he wont be buying them again..imagine if it had let go at Brunters!!!

Hmm - funny you mention that...take a look at these - I think its the start of delamination. The tyre is currently at Pirelli being examined. BTW, there was lots of these 'tears' all around the tyre.

Be careful guys & keep a close eye on the inside edges..

Steve
