OK - from doing some research I'm now even more confused about what speed camera detector to buy.. Can you get anything that integrates into the Porsche PCM? If not, are there any units that you would recommend? Ideally I'd like laser and camera combined.

Roadangel+ seems to be a good buy - anyone used this?

Thanks

I've tried a few and have now got a talex lite -no frills but for me the killer app is the identification of mobile locations which are potentially (if you speed)the biggest problem

I run a RoadAngel+ - If considering one then go for the rechargeable one (means no messy cables in the car). It also comes with an in car charger so can be charged on the go.

Generally been happy with it and it seems fairly accurate. Has saved me a few times when not paying enough attention to speed cameras.

Never had it warn me about a laser gun and not sure how much point there is - once it detects it you're likely to have been done anyway. Also, no way of spotting following cars with speed detectors (likely on motorways).

There are others available that physically 'bounce' the laser beam away from a gun making you fairly impossible to detect but these are officially 'illegal'. Very tempting though.

I've got a Road Angel Plus, too. I would definitely recommend it.

Saved my licence on many occasions.

I've never had chance to use/test the radar detector though.

I got mine before the rechargable one was available so would go for that one.
However, I think there's a scamera locations download for the TomTom sat nav, so if you haven't got sat nav already, that route might be better.

I agree - some sort of jammer would be really useful, but I've found it difficult to get any sort of consensus view on which is best. Very few people seem to have them, and many postings in favour of a particular brand appear to be, well, suspicious.

Origin B2 Solo. No false alarms either. Love mine. Sits nicely to right of instrument column to the left of pillar. Unobtrusive and very easy to fit.

Interesting topic..

Of course without in any way contemplating breaking the law...

Does anybody have any experience of using radar/laser jamming equipment on their cars? Anybody also know the definite legal position on these - whats the penalty for getting caught etc?

No, but it has an input jack if you have a *garage door opener* so that signals can be integrated with the main unit/display screen. Also, the B2 has a laser detector that can be repositioned away from the main unit.

Snooper S3 £90 on e-bay.
Small, unobtrusive and it works.

Laser detector waste of time & money - you're allready in the Sh£t if you'r caught.

Just buy an LT 430 'remote control garage door opening system'! no more fiddly remote controls! say no more.

Just a word of caution, be carefull when you guys are driving in Belgium.

A few weeks ago a guy had his BMW 330 taken away from him becaus he had one of these radar detectors installed. Highly illegal and the cops have special scanners to trap you.

There are only three options in Belgium

Track days, Germany and keep the right foot under control

I think it's the same in France, too.

In fact, I'm sure i've read stories on here that if the police over there even see the suction marks on your windscreen from the mounting they'll search your bags, as it's illegal to have one in your possession.

Probably rubbish but better safe than sorry i suppose...

Just checked on t'interweb for the LT 430. Looks interesting...

I like the look of the Laser PRO-PARK too.

Absolutely correct. If they see the "rings" where the mounting was, they'll have your bags all over the hard shoulder trying to find the offending device. Twats.
